We want to share an important update with our Vernal Youth Baseball community regarding the 2026 Fall Ball season.

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2026 Fall Ball season. This was not an easy decision, but it is the best one for the long-term health of our baseball fields.

Due to ongoing water shortages, we are unable to provide the irrigation the fields need to remain healthy. Playing a fall season under these conditions could cause significant damage that would impact future play.

While we know this is disappointing, this gives the Uintah Special Service District 1 Maintenance Department the opportunity to focus on repairing, restoring, and reconditioning the fields. This work will help ensure they are in a better condition and ready for a successful Spring 2027 season.

We truly appreciate the understanding and support of our players, families, coaches, and volunteers. Your patience allows us to be responsible stewards of these facilities and protect them so they can continue serving our community for years to come.

Thank you for your continued support of Vernal Youth Baseball. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the fields in Spring 2027 with fields that are healthy, safe, and ready for another great season.

I wish more people knew this about their Vernal youth baseball coaches...

Most of them aren’t former professional players. They are parents with full-time jobs who leave work, throw a glove bag in the trunk, grab whatever dinner fits between meetings and first pitch, and head to the field hoping to make a difference.

They spend their evenings planning practices, encouraging kids after tough games, answering parent texts, lining fields, and trying to make baseball something they’ll remember long after they forget the score.

They aren’t looking for recognition. They stepped up because someone needed to.

Because they want to make memories with their own kids and want to be a positive influence on someone else’s.

If you have ever wondered whether you are “qualified” to coach, here’s your reminder:

You don’t need a baseball résumé. You just need to care enough to say yes.

So as this fall season approaches this is the time to step up a make a decision to coach.
