The Ride of Silence: This event is held each year by cycling organizations to honor those killed while bicycling. It also brings attention to our sport which shares the road with much larger vehicles. Silver Wheels also remembers our club members who have passed, for any reason. This year, our list now has 37 names. Bob Esper was the 2026 organizer, Steve Oz read the poem and Kathy Yourkiewicz read the name list. As Pat Habenicht played bagpipes, our riders began their 5 mile procession led by Steve Oz with a police es**rt. Thank you to our 15 riders who participated even though it was chilly and breezy.

To all cyclists living within 25 miles of Oberlin, Ohio: Here is a unique opportunity to be a guest rider with the Silver Wheels Cycling Club. On August 15th, 2026, we will be holding our annual Dennis Stout 4 x 25 event also known as EZ Hundred. This is a great way to do a century ride (100 miles) by riding 4, 25 mile loops. They all begin and end in Wakeman, Ohio. Ride leaders will take members and guests on one of 8 loops. Test your endurance, ride up to 4 loops to get your century ride! The clubs annual spring Chili Wiener event was just completed. It was a "chilly" day with a temperature of only 40 degrees at ride time. But, the conditions were dry and an impressive 36 riders took to the streets and trails. After riding, everyone gathered for chili, hot dogs and loads of sides and desserts. Thanks to all our volunteers that make these events possible. If you missed out, we will do it again in November. Now, get ready for our next ride/eat event, the Founding Day ride on April 11, 2026

Spring is here! Well, not so fast. We are only in mid-February and there is plenty of winter left. However, give our members dry roads and 50 degrees and they will be riding. Thanks go to Eva for leading this ride and to all our leaders who give us group riding opportunities!

January 11th was the 26th annual Awards Banquet. Over 70 were in attendance at the lovely German's Villa in Vermilion, Ohio. After a delicious meal, our club president, Jerry, led the presentation program. It's always fun to see who earned their awards. A big THANK YOU goes out to all the volunteers who made the event a success. And of course, thanks goes out to all of our members who continue to make this club awesome. Congratulations to our winners!
