Addison County Eagles celebrated another year older this Saturday. The food was amazing! We’re so thankful for the students and their hard work.
Northlands Job Corps'culinary arts students were very busy last week. In partnership with the Vergennes Eagles club Aerie #3801, the culinary arts students prepared and served a special dinner at their local event center. The students prepared a “Pasta Bar” with many choices of veggies, special sauces, and meats. Adding homemade focaccia bread, 2 salads, 3 appetizers, and 2 desserts, you can see that they had a crazy week! Chef Zach Blanchette’s team of students ranged from a “first week in trade” student to one departing for advanced training next week. All of them did a great job representing the Center to the Vergennes community. Many of the attendees spoke with both Chef Zach and the CTT Manager, Sue Magill, during and after dinner—lots of praise and compliments for the students’ efforts. One highlight of the evening was the surprise chocolate cake, which almost everyone tried and loved. They were all shocked to learn that one of the main ingredients in this cake was BEETS!

The Vergennes Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 3801, is a service organization with a focus on “People helping people”, according to President Bassett. The facility is a welcoming place that is used for many events. They raise funds to assist with City events, such as co-sponsoring the annual fireworks display for July 4th and scholarships for local students. They create a monthly fish fry, a yearly Thanksgiving dinner, and host the yearly Addison County Fire Fighters dinner and meeting. Just a short list of what they support. This is a noteworthy organization with busy people who are willing to help others! Partnering with them has created a joint collaboration that works.
It was a fun night!
