BIG parade in the LITTLE CITY!
The American Legion Post #14 in Vergennes will host the annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 25, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM.
The parade will follow a 1.5-mile route through the city and conclude on the Vergennes Green, where a solemn ceremony will be held to honor the men and women who have served our country—especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
This year’s parade theme, “The Last Full Measure of Devotion” (from the Gettysburg Address), reflects the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who served during times of conflict. The event is designed to bring together Veterans and community members in remembrance and gratitude.
Following the ceremony, a chicken barbecue will be held at American Legion Post #14, located at 100 Armory Lane, from 12:00 PM until sold out. The public is encouraged to attend.
Parade Marshal Travis Scribner served in both the Army and Air National Guard, retiring in 2024 as a Master Sergeant after 22 years of service. His military career included deployments to Djibouti and Kuwait. Scribner noted that Memorial Day is a time to reflect and honor those who gave their lives in service, as well as those who have since passed.
Guest Speaker Dennis Armell served in the Vermont Army National Guard for 44 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant (E-8). A longtime member of American Legion Post #14, Armell has been actively involved in honoring local veterans, including coordinating the placement of over 1,100 flags on graves throughout the region each year.
All groups and individuals are invited to participate in the parade. Participation is free.
