Los Robles Children's Choir Through the creative beauty of choral music, we strive to inspire and ignite a passion for the art-of-sound in young hearts and minds.

We begin each choir rehearsal with intentional “warm-up” exercises that focus on specific aspects of vocal technique. This exercise is working on control and vowel shaping (pure vowels that blend). The “m” consonant is great to use for a balanced sound, then try it with just the vowels!

In the NICU, every single day counts.

Researchers analyzed every empirical study on music therapy in the NICU and found a large, significant effect across the board.

• Music stabilized heart rate
• Improved oxygen saturation
• Strengthened feeding ability
• Supported weight gain
• AND led to significantly earlier discharge dates

Here is the part that stopped us completely:
the benefits were strongest for the most critical babies. The ones born before 28 weeks. Weighing under two pounds. The most fragile human beings imaginable…

We don’t know exactly why but the data is consistent and clear: Something about sound, rhythm, and melody speaks to the human body at its most vulnerable and says, “you are safe. Keep going.”

Here's the data: https://doi.org/10.1891/0730-0832.31.5.311

Please note: Music therapy and music education are different disciplines. We're not music therapists, but we believe in the power of music to transform lives.

Science shows that live music triggers our brains and bodies in incredible ways:

The Dopamine Peak: Research shows frisson happens when music triggers a sudden, massive release of dopamine in your brain’s reward centers (Salimpoor et al, 2011)

Emotional Entrainment: A 2024 study found that live music stimulates the brain’s emotional centers and emotionally connects listeners to each other (Trost et al, 2024)

Nervous system re-set: live music stimulates the vagus nerve, lowers cortisol levels and shifts the body into relaxation mode (Rebecchini, 2021)

Basically, your goosebumps are proof that the music is literally altering your nervous system and improving your health.

There is nothing to fix in autism. Autistic people are navigating a world that was never built for their unique lens of perception.

What looks like behavioral distress is often something else: a mismatch between a person and their environment. And our world has a long way to go in closing that gap.

So when researchers studied what music could do for that mismatch… Across 13 randomized controlled trials and 1,160 autistic children, they found significant shifts in the ability to regulate, connect, and express. Honestly, we weren’t entirely surprised!

Music doesn’t ask autistic people to be any different than who they naturally, authentically are. It doesn’t demand they adapt to a neurotypical framework. It simply shows up. It is accessible, non-verbal, non-judgmental, and present.

Music isn’t a tool to fix anyone. It’s a bridge so the world can finally harmonize with each individual where they are.

We can’t wait to live in a world that makes life here easier and more fluid for autistic people, and for anyone whose inner experience isn’t fully seen or understood. Until then, music has an important and powerful role to play.

Comment “MEDICALMUSIC” (has to be one word!) and we’ll send you the study.

1 in 8 children lives with an anxiety disorder. Most never get the help they need.

In a randomized controlled trial, children aged 8–12 with diagnosed anxiety disorders received music therapy alongside CBT, aka the gold standard talk therapy for anxiety. 67% achieved full remission. The CBT-only group? 33%.

Twice the result. And those remissions held four months after the music stopped.

This is a pilot study and more research is underway, but the signal is clear and the researchers’ own words describe the results as promising.

We know music can and will change the world and we love when science can prove it!

Make sure you’re following because the future of healing via music is here and we are all over it!

Did you know there is currently no medication that targets the core behavioral symptoms of autism? Some very intelligent researchers decided to give music a try. The results? See for yourself!

13 randomized controlled trials. 1,160 children.
The result: music therapy produced a substantial, statistically significant improvement in behavioral symptoms. Directly reducing repetitive behaviors, aggression, and sensory dysregulation. No prescription required.

Music has always known what science is just catching up to.

4 REASONS why MUSIC is GOOD for your HEALTH:

First, it triggers the release of oxytocin, which actively lowers stress hormones like cortisol.

Second, it stimulates the vagus nerve, directly lowering your heart rate and blood pressure.

Third, it provides a whole-brain workout, engaging multiple neurological regions simultaneously to strengthen neural pathways.

Fourth, it boosts neural plasticity, helping protect against degenerative conditions like Alzheimer’s and dementia.

While listening is highly beneficial, actively participating (like singing or playing an instrument) engages the brain exponentially more.

And the most beneficial? Making music together!

This study, done with music therapy, so profoundly demonstrates the power of what music can do. A 56.7% drop in opioid usage before, during, AND AFTER surgery because of the replacement of MUSIC. How incredible is that!?!

Important note: Music therapy and music education are different disciplines. We’re not music therapists, but we believe in the power of music to transform lives.

This is just one study of so many that we hope to bring to the surface through our content. We are a children’s choir and music education program with a mission to acknowledge and honor music as the powerful force it is. The more we recognize and practice music, the more we imbue such teachings to our children, the more harmonious the world will become.

Follow if you believe in the power of music and want solid evidence for why you are right!
