Ventura Coast Milk Bank is dedicated to improving public health through accessible breastfeeding edu

Based out of Ventura, CA with plans to serve Ventura, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles counties, Ventura Coast Milk Bank will collect, screen, pasteurize, and distribute donor human milk. Our mission is to educate the public on the benefits of breastfeeding and increasing the amount of donor milk available for medically fragile infants in our community.

The VCMB at WIC milk depot at the N. Oxnard office has a full freezer this April! A big thank you to this month’s generous donors for the 12 large bags of life-saving milk.

Our VCMB President had a wonderful visit to our VCMB at WIC milk depot located at WIC’s N. Oxnard location, connecting with and partners! 🤝 We’re proud to celebrate 9512.56 ounces of donor breast milk received and 137 deposits made in 2025—thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors and partners. Every drop helps nourish infants in need. 💛

The Milk Recipient Fund provides donor human milk to families in need of financial assistance. This fund helps ensure that families in need can access safe, pasteurized donor human milk from our partner, —regardless of financial circumstances.

Ventura County families who meet the following criteria may receive up to 100 ounces of milk at no cost (based on available funding):

🍼 Must qualify for WIC and/or Medi-Cal, and
🍼 Have a newborn under one month old whose mother’s milk has not come in yet, or
🍼 Have a medical necessity and are waiting for insurance authorization

This early access to donor milk supports infant health, prevents complications related to supplementation, and gives families vital time while insurance coverage is processed.

All pasteurized donor human milk provided through the Milk Recipient Fund is supplied by accredited nonprofit milk bank, .

Today we would like to say a big thank you to for donating this year’s proceeds of $996.44 from the Birth & Baby Resource Fair to Ventura Coast Milk Bank in support of our mission.

The Breastfeeding Coalition of Ventura County is a nonprofit corporation, comprised of health care providers, community leaders, policy makers, and parents with the common goal of promoting and supporting breastfeeding as the cultural norm in Ventura County.

Their mission is to promote breastfeeding in the community by providing resources and education to families, health care professionals, employers, and policy makers.

A milk dispensary is a facility contracted with a milk bank to store and dispense pasteurized donor human milk (PDHM) to outpatients. Milk dispensaries help to offer a local pickup option for families in immediate need of PDHM.

Ventura Coast Milk Bank has partnered with University of California Health Milk Bank and New Family Collective to establish a milk dispensary at New Family Collective in Thousand Oaks, CA. Families looking to receive PDHM will be able to order milk through UCHMB for local pickup at the milk dispensary (some restrictions may apply).

We’re expecting…

A MILK DISPENSARY! Thanks to your generous donations, we are excited to share that the Ventura Coast Milk Bank at WIC milk depot is getting a sibling, expected early 2025.

We heard your requests for local outpatient pasteurized donor human milk and we have been working hard to bring a milk dispensary to Ventura County. In collaboration with and , this milk dispensary located at New Family Collective in Thousand Oaks, CA will serve as a local pickup location for those in need of pasteurized donor human milk.

New Family Collective is a classroom space with a goal of supporting growing families founded by International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) Janice Roodsari & Bethany Womack. NFC offers weekly breastfeeding support group, a variety of pre and postnatal classes, and helps connect parents with Child Birth Educators, Doulas, Physical Therapist, Mental Health Providers, and more. NFC recently celebrated its first year of serving new families and Janice & Bethany are incredibly excited to celebrate by bringing the community the opportunity to access pasteurized donor human milk for babies in need.

While is working towards becoming a nonprofit member milk bank accredited by the , we have partnered with to collect, process, and distribute milk.

Families looking to receive pasteurized donor human milk will be able to order milk through for local pick-up at milk dispensary. Some restrictions may apply.
