"I feel more on fire about the beauty of the Catholic faith and being called to the vocation of teaching His little ones."

"[I feel prepared] To be able to teach every lesson with the idea of Jesus's words 'follow me'!"

"Very helpful! This workshop connected the dots for me."

These are just a few messages of feedback from the ICLE 2DW Mimetic Workshop led by faculty member, Elizabeth Black, for St. Lawrence School - Milbank, SD on Oct. 14. That is why ICLE is delighted to introduce the Imago Dei Inclusion Workshop.

Guided by Abriana Chilelli, ICLE’s Director of Special Projects, this new one or two day workshop for Catholic schools offers Catholic educators a faithful, integrated approach to welcome and form students with disabilities through a theological, historical, and practical framework.

Today is the feast of St. John Henry Newman, marking the anniversary of his reception into the Catholic Church on October 9, 1845.

Before he was a Cardinal or a Saint, he had to say a difficult goodbye to the Anglican flock he loved deeply. His final sermon, "The Parting of Friends," is signficant in literary beauty, piety, and humility.

Read more from J. Jacob (Jake) Tawney, Director of Curriculum and Academic Resources, on that impactful and tearful farewell here:

"Humanity in every age, and even today, looks to works of art to shed light upon its path and its destiny.” — Pope Saint John Paul II

We are deeply grateful for the support of ICLE's premier partners, who continuously enrich our community with their commitment to Catholic liberal education.

Today, we share an article submitted by one of our partners— Kolbe Academy — written by Therese Prudlo, their History Department Chair.

In a fast-paced, digital age, allowing students the space to sit in quiet reflection with a work of art invites them into the possibility of a meaningful conversation across time. Read more on the significance of bringing authentic art into the classroom.

Thank you, Therese and the Kolbe Academy team, for your vital partnership and this inspiring contribution! Read the full article on our website:

Every year, Mother Church celebrates the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary on October 7 and dedicates the entire month to encouraging her children to embrace this devotion. Many Catholic schools will gather to pray the Rosary as a community at least once in the weeks ahead. This is a worthy practice, but as any teacher supervising an all-school Rosary at 2:55 p.m. on a Friday knows, it can often fall a little short of engaging our students’ full attention…

This year, I invite you to consider studying a beautiful story, poem, song, or painting about the Rosary with your class in order to form their imaginations and hearts more profoundly. This article gathers resources for leading lessons that will deepen your students’ understanding and experience of the Rosary, helping them to develop a love for this powerful prayer.

"True Catholic education forms the whole person, weaving every subject together through the lens of our faith...I call for a renewal of our Catholic schools...strengthening their Catholic identity."

The Institute for Catholic Liberal Education is grateful for the vision and leadership of Archbishop Sample, whom we are thrilled to have on ICLE’s Episcopal Advisory Board. This vision is reflected in his recently released Pastoral Letter on Mission Renewal in the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon.

Our mission is to live and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, serving 400,000 Catholics and all people of western Oregon spiritually and materially, today and for generations to come.

"Our job as Catholic educators is to facilitate a deep encounter with the One who created the human heart.

By bringing the intellectual tradition back into our schools, we create a sanctuary where truth dwells, transforming wounded hearts so they can go out and heal the world."

—Most Reverend Andrew H. Cozzens, S.T.D., D.D., Bishop of Crookston
