Hello Sailors! ⛵️
Come join Ventura Sailing Club for our 22nd annual race out to Frenchy’s Cove on Anacapa Island and back on June 13th. This is a race with a little something for everyone, from people new to sailboat racing to experienced racers. Under normal June conditions we get out to the island fairly quickly as it is generally a close reach from the Mandalay Buoy starting point and then a broad reach coming home. For most boats there isn’t a lot of sail handling so you can enjoy a day on the water, watching the sea life swim by, and visiting with friends in the company of other boats. And if you lean more in the competitive direction there is always the potential for flying a downwind (or at least reaching) sail on the way home and watching your knotmeter roll up to double digit territory.
Race records haven’t been kept until last year, but here’s the elapsed time winners from last year, so the gauntlet has been thrown down for those with that extra bit of competitiveness.

Beachcat. MM Ricky Vazquez 3:52:17. *Beachcats sail a course about 2 miles longer. **the 3 hour mark was breached a couple of years ago, but I can’t find the records.
