VENTURA RECAP 🌊 September was a special event!

22 kids joined us for a day filled with joy, warm water & lots of waves! A teen boy who surfed for his very first time shared with his instructor, “I’m going to remember this moment for the rest of my life!”

All smiles during a wipeout! 😆 This is how much fun we have surfing with our friends at MTC events, wipeouts and all!

Although a wipeout means we’ve fallen off a wave, it also means we’ve tried. We had the courage to suit up, enter the water, and give it a go. But what matters most is what happens after a wipeout. Do we let it discourage us, or do we try again? We get back up and try again! Through these experiences, we learn to conquer our fears, trust ourselves and our instructors, and hold on to joy along the way. 🌊💙

Six years ago the vision of More Than Conquerors Surf turned into a reality and we became an official nonprofit organization. Five years ago, August of 2021, we had our very first surf event and what a dream it has been ever since!!

More Than Conquerors Surf (MTC) serves foster youth, adoptive and kinship families, and trafficked youth ages 2 – 25 in San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties. With the gift of surfing, MTC provides our youth with the opportunity to heal from trauma through joyful, empowering experiences.

🌊 Registration opens 4 weeks prior to the event date. Volunteers can sign up for multiple event locations!

We all face our own valleys. Places of fear, uncertainty, and circumstances we never expected to walk through. For many of our MTC surfers, life has brought challenges far beyond their years. We may not be able to change the valleys our surfers have walked through, but we can walk beside them, encourage them, and remind them that they are More Than Conquerors!
