Exhibitions have two lives.

The first is social—a celebration filled with artists, friends, music, food, conversation, and community.

The second is quieter.

It unfolds through contemplation, reflection, and discovery.

Now that opening night has passed, we invite you to experience Where the World Breaks at a slower pace.

Take an afternoon to explore the exhibition. Then continue the experience next door at Leader Block Trattoria & Bar with a glass of wine, a meal, and good conversation.

Some exhibitions are meant to be visited more than once.

Where the World Breaks remains on view through August 29.

Opening night is only one way to experience an exhibition.

The crowds bring excitement.

The quiet reveals the art.

Now that the opening celebration has passed, Where the World Breaks can be experienced slowly and thoughtfully.

Spend time with a single painting.

Follow a thread from one artwork to another.

Sit with a sculpture.

Allow the exhibition to unfold at its own pace.

Many visitors discover entirely new things when they return a second time.

We hope you’ll come back.

There is something magical that happens when a gallery fills with people.

On opening night of Where the World Breaks, artists, poets, collectors, business leaders, chamber members, elected officials, friends, and first-time visitors came together to celebrate art, conversation, and community.

The gallery was packed from wall to wall as guests explored the exhibition, met internationally acclaimed artist He Gong, enjoyed live jazz by Brian Cunningham, and shared wine, ideas, and stories. As the evening continued, many guests moved next door to Leader Block Trattoria & Bar, where the celebration carried on over a special four-course exhibition dinner and wine pairings.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so memorable.

If you attended the opening, we invite you to come back and spend time with the work in a quieter setting. And if you missed the opening, the exhibition is waiting for you.

Where the World Breaks remains on view through August 29.

What an extraordinary evening.

On Saturday night, Where the World Breaks opened to a packed gallery filled with artists, collectors, poets, chamber members, downtown advocates, local business leaders, elected officials, and friends from throughout Whatcom County and beyond.

We were honored to welcome internationally acclaimed contemporary artist He Gong from China, whose presence transformed the evening into something truly special.

The gallery was filled with conversation, curiosity, laughter, and reflection. When the reception concluded, the celebration continued next door at Leader Block Trattoria & Bar, where guests gathered around a special four-course exhibition menu and wine pairings inspired by the exhibition. The restaurant was absolutely packed as conversations begun in the gallery continued over dinner, wine, and live jazz by Brian Cunningham.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended and helped make the opening such a success.

If you missed opening night—or if you found yourself wishing for more time with the work—the exhibition has only just begun.
