We are incredibly proud of our Eagle Scout Jason Sherrier for his ongoing accomplishments! ✌🏼

🎉 Congratulations to Cadet Jason Sherrier! 🎉

On Thursday, July 31, 2025, Commander (Ret.) Steve Bartek of the Sarasota-Manatee Council-Navy League of the US proudly presented a $2,500 scholarship to recent Venice High School graduate Jason Sherrier.

Jason, a standout member of the Venice High School Marine Corps JROTC, excelled both academically and in leadership. Graduating in the top 20% of his class with a 4.56 GPA, he is also an Eagle Scout, Executive Officer of his MCJROTC unit, and the recipient of a national Naval ROTC scholarship.

This competitive SMC Navy League scholarship is awarded to exceptional students from the 9 youth programs our council supports, as well as “Legacy” students whose parents or grandparents served in the USCG, US Navy, or US Marine Corps.

Jason will attend the University of South Florida this fall, joining the Naval ROTC as a Midshipman, with plans to commission as a United States Marine Corps officer and pilot. ✈️🇺🇸

Thanks to everyone who came out to Wellen Park Florida 's Fishing Rodeo yesterday. The Troop patrolled the Gran Lake perimeter and provided assistance when needed. A full loop was 2.3 miles and multiple scouts walked it 3 or 4 times!!! The point of the Rodeo was to fish out invasive species and highlight our lovely native ones, such as the newly recognized Florida Bass.
