Sounds like all the rain helped with this situation.

We've had some inquiries about the accidental discharge to French Creek over the weekend from the Meadville Area Sewer Authority.

The reported sewage release to French Creek, which occurred on Saturday, April 18th, was estimated at approximately 10 million gallons in volume. From published information, it was due to an unexpected equipment failure at the Meadville Area Sewer Authority facilities. The PA Department of Environmental Protection was contacted immediately.

For comparison, at the time of the release, French Creek was flowing at about 2.7 million gallons per minute, or 3,876,000,000 per day. Due to the high flow at the time, the accidental discharge is not anticipated to impact the creek.

Questions and concerns should be directed to PA DEP and the Meadville Area Sewer Authority.

Unfortunately it sounds like new owners and ignorant people have caused this launch to shut down. Let's pickup after our selves so this doesn't happen other places.

Important Notice for the Paddling Community 🚨🛶

We want to make everyone aware of an important update regarding the 6N & 19 boat launch area (River Mile 66) on French Creek. After speaking with the property owner, it has been confirmed that there is no longer any public access permitted at this location. Please help us spread the word to ensure everyone stays informed and avoids any inconvenience.

Edited to add- unfortunately, the next official launch to the south is our Anselmo Launch at river mile 57 (Miller Station Bridge).... another 9 miles of paddling. The loss of this launch creates a significant gap without public access. FCVC is working on alternatives, but there will not be a replacement location in 2026.

We've acquired the items for this year's grand prize drawing. The first prize is once again another HIMIWAY ebike, that 814 outdoors gave us a deal on. Second prize is an Old Town Heron 11xt that Allegheny Outfitters gave us a deal on including free shuttle service in the Warren area. Tickets will be available soon. Drift day is September 5th, mark your calendars.

Ok folks only one week until Monday Mania. We've gathered approximately $1500 worth of prizes, including some Easter goodies, a Turtle box speaker, vacuum sealer, ice maker, lottery boards, electric pressure washer and some meat packages. You don't have to be at member of the VFW to get in. Plan on eating a good meal from the VFW and supporting us, and you might just win.

Started to get items for the Monday Mania event. These prizes will be given away on tip boards at Venango James D Bowers Vfw on March 23rd. So far we have lots of snacks, an ice maker, a vacuum sealer, and a ninja. More to follow.

The launch behind the Venango Volunteer Fire Department is out of the water. You can still park at the firehall and access the creek you just won't be able to use the launch until spring.
