This trapping was a little heartbreaking. Owner (let's call her Cindy) has to rehome their Australian Shepherd due to life changing circumstances. Stella isn't current on anything OR spayed, but Cindy feels she is homing her to the perfect situation. Cindy decides to meet uhhm Chad 1/2 way, rather than doing an actual home check.... Stella is put into Chad's father's backyard, where she abruptly bolts through the inadequate fence and chases the then leaving owner down the street, (during a hail storm). Neighbors try to assist this situation, but it seemingly just gets worse. Cindy shows up 2x before the moving van is scheduled and tries to get Stella, Cindy is out of time. Stella is now in survival mode, and not coming to anybody. Chad bails out. Now Stella is abandoned in a place she doesnt know, with humans that she has never interacted with. Stella circles the location where she was lost.
We come out with a trap, but Stella is not having it. We decide to put some higher value food in the trap and finally, somewhere around 2am, Stella is safe!
We can say, sometimes it takes the universe to come together for these critters.
I am SO thankful for like minded people willing to jump in and help at a moments notice. Of course, I must mention Sean Whittemore who stayed home to take care of our crew.
