Line up 285 children.

Children with birthday parties still to celebrate. Children with classrooms waiting for them, sports they love, best friends they cannot imagine living without, and entire futures their families already picture.

Before reaching age 20, approximately one of those 285 children will be diagnosed with cancer. (acsjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com⁠)

People call childhood cancer “rare.” But rare does not feel rare when the child standing in that line is yours.

In 2024 alone, an estimated 14,910 children and adolescents in the United States were expected to be diagnosed with cancer, while approximately 1,590 were expected to lose their lives to it. That means more than 40 young people diagnosed—and more than four families facing an unimaginable loss—every single day. (cancer.gov⁠)

Each number represents a child whose life was interrupted by scans, needles, surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, hospital rooms, and words no child should ever have to understand. Each number represents parents who would have traded places without hesitation—but could not.

Kinlee was our one. She was diagnosed at nine years old. She had a name, a laugh, a voice, a personality, plans, and an entire life she deserved to live.

She was never just a statistic.

None of them are.

Today starts Childhood cancer awareness month.

Tomorrow begins September and with this brings Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. We are supporting this cause with an activity calendar from Jameson Strong along with a special dress week September 21-25. And we always pray for a cure to all cancers!

With today being National Grief Awareness Day, we remember those that are still grieving from losing a loved one. Know that it’s ok to still grieve and talk about them no matter how long it has been since losing them. Say their name or post a picture of who you are missing today!
