On Monday May 25, 2026, 2nd Class Scouts Christopher Santiago and Hunter Brown represented Vassalboro Scouting America Troop 410 in the Oakland, ME Memorial Day Parade.

The rain cleared away and provided just enough sunshine on these two young men who represented our unit as we paid respect to our country’s service men and women who paid the ultimate price in defense of our country.

On Monday May 18, 2026 our Tiger Cubs visited the Vassalboro Fire Department and learned all about the Fire Service and got to have a little fun with all the “cool” (no pun intended) equipment that firefighters use to put out fires. Chief Thompson you may have a few future members of the crew!

The Fire Service has been at the fore front of everyone’s mind this past week in light of the incident in Searsmont, but Vassalboro Scouting is holding everyone in our thoughts and prayers.

That being said, we are very grateful for the service of Chief Walker Thompson and the 34 volunteer firefighters of the Vassalboro Fire Department who serve right here in our community.

Tonight our Tiger Cubs got to visit the station and got to learn about what our firefighters do and have of course have a little fun.

On Sunday May 17, 2026 members of Cub Scout Pack 410 and Troop 410 enjoyed the beautiful spring weather and the wonderful property at the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine in Augusta, Maine to do some fishing together. Angling is a new and growing part of the Cub Scout program and something for all scouts to enjoy year round.

Our units enjoy fishing both on open water and on the ice and scouts get to learn how to enjoy this past time as a Maine outdoor activity.

On Saturday May 2, 2026 members of Vassalboro Cub Scout Pack 410 and Troop 410 participated in a Field Day for our host organization, the Vassalboro United Methodist Church. The rain didn’t stop us from cleaning up the grounds and getting the church spring ready!

On behalf of Scoutmaster/Cubmaster Santiago and both Pastor Karen Merrill and Harvey Boatman, a huge thank you to the scouts and families who assisted in this project!

On this Patriot’s Day Weekend Troop 410 went camping at New England Basecamp (Camp Sayre) in Milton, MA and walked the Freedom Trail. It was a wonderful, educational experience for scout and adult alike; and a great time was had by all.

A thank you to old time scouter Bruce Reuger who suggested the trip as a District activity. We’re glad we followed through. Plenty of memories to share and way too many photos to share.
