I have spent most of my life thinking that hope was having a desire for something to happen. I hope this happens, or I hope that happens. When Covid descended on all of us five years ago, I started getting asked to visit organizations that were struggling with hope from many directions. As I began to gather information to help myself and others understand more about hope and how to tap it more effectively, I saw that there are three distinctly different kinds of hope, each with their own research, definitions and practices. All three kinds understood and active in both ancient and modern times. And that some kinds of hope are more useful in situations that other kinds of hope. Here's a short description, offered in the hope:) you'll reflect for a moment on what kinds of hope are your "go-to" hope practice and which kinds are less used and may be useful to amplify in your life.
