VYBS Family,
Well, we knew the odds were against us, and... indeed the odds won this time. We waited as long as we could but now must sadly announce that VYBS is officially canceled for the 2020 season. Refund information below.
Our hope was that we would be in phase 3 by the first of July or at least early July to try to salvage some abbreviated season but, the pace we are currently on to hit phase 3 will not provide enough time to schedule practices and scrimmages for all of the players.
For 12U and 14U players (Bronco and Pony), we hope to offer some training clinics in July and August. The reason we are only doing these age groups is due to the significant skill jump they will encounter as they move up a division or to High School next year. While in phase 2 these training sessions will remain 5 players or less with social distancing and mask requirements observed. We will have more information on this soon, but in the meantime would appreciate a response from those who are interested to get an idea of the numbers for planning.
VYBS will begin sending refund checks to everyone that hasn’t already requested it starting July 6. Some of you have mentioned you'd like to donate your registration, if so please email [email protected] stating this desire and we will send you a thank you, make that a BIG thank you, response for your tax records.
Ok....huddle up everyone. Here's where we all need each other as part of our community team. In order to keep Vashon baseball and softball programs going into the future, we need player/family involvement. Missing an entire season might interrupt and weaken interest in baseball/softball for some of our players. We ask that parents, friends, family members do what they can at home to keep the players interested and involved in baseball and softball, then next year we'll be able to continue to have strong and thriving programs. So...have a catch with your player, buy that hitting net and T for the back yard, watch one of the classic games they are showing on MLB network, or the Huskies run in the Women's College World Series last year, or perhaps one of the abbreviated MLB season games promised to come (I know...that may not happen either, but....it still might), Play MLB The Show, watch a baseball movie, read a book about softball or baseball together – there are tons out there. We all are missing the joy of seeing your players on the field and sharing that time with you in the stands. But, keep the fire burning and we, as a community team, WILL be back next year.
Thank You,
VYBS Board
