🤯 2026 SC SWEEP RESULTS ARE IN...and can we just say, WOW!

In just 10 days, communities across all 46 counties came together for the 2026 , and the impact was huge:

🚮 488,856 pounds picked up
🤝 2,903 volunteers
⏰ 6,827 hours donated
💰 $223,175 in estimated savings for communities

From 80 tons in year one to 244 tons in year two, it’s safe to say gained serious momentum this year. Those numbers tell a story of neighbors showing up for their communities and for each other. To everyone who filled a bag, organized a cleanup, or picked up a stray cup on the side of the road, thank you. This happened because of you 💚

During their senior night football game, Hampton County High School's cross-country team held a litter-free event. Throughout the game, the student athletes collected trash from the stands, and following the game, they completed a "clean sweep." This service project was a fantastic way for them to show off their school spirit. 🌳♻️🚯

🚫 Found an illegal dumpsite or trash where it doesn't belong? It might be tempting to clean it up right away, but here’s the right way to handle it:

1️⃣ Do NOT touch anything. It is a crime scene! Moving items could interfere with an investigation.
2️⃣ Take photos and be sure to note the location. Write down the coordinates, nearest address, landmarks, or drop a pin on your phone.
3️⃣ Report it. Contact your local law enforcement, ideally your local litter control officers if you have them. You can find your county contact info on our website. You can also report through PalmettoPride’s Litter Busters Hotline: 1-877-7-LITTER, and let us take it from there.
4️⃣ Stay safe. Some materials may be hazardous—leave it to the professionals.

👉 PalmettoPride works with the South Carolina Litter Control Association and the SC Department of Environmental Services to crack down on illegal dumping across our state. Reporting a dumpsite not only starts the process of restoring the area, but also discourages repeat dumping and prevents it from becoming a hot spot.

Keep Hampton County Beautiful has been gathering plastic bags and different types of plastic films for the past 12 months with NexTrex 'Bags to Bench' program. Once 1,000 pounds were collected, KHCB received a free bench made from recycled plastics. Varnville Elementary School staff and students played a significant role in the collection, and today the school received the first recycled bench. We have a number of collection locations across the county, and we are grateful to all of the residents who have been conscientious about recycling and supporting our cause. We are preventing plastic bags from ending up in landfills and waterways by means of this initiative. 🌎♻️
