Varina Ruritan Club

Varina Ruritan Club Ruritan is a service club located in small towns and rural areas in the United States.

It aims to achieve "Fellowship, Goodwill and Community Service"

Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of every month @ 7:00pm Varina Ruritan Community Service

Yearly gives local students scholarships for college expenses;

The club donates blankets & pillows to the Massey Cancer Center;

Donated to Local Scout Troops; to Jamestown 4-H Center;

Donated and Delivered Smoke Alarms for Community Fire De

pt.;

Donated and Delivered Brunswick Stew to Fire & Rescue Squads;

Donated & Support Eastern Henrico Fish; Boy Scouts Friends of Scouting;

Coordinated a Pancake Supper for Navy ROTC;

Donated to YMCA Bright Beginnings; Habitat for Humanity; Varina Episcopal Church Food Pantry & Men’s Group;

Donated to the 22nd Annual Chip for Education Golf Tournament benefitting the Math Science Innovation Center;

Sponsored Varina Community Day;

Recognizes Local Fire Department & Police Department;

These are just a few highlights of how the club helps the community.

Come out to breakfast for supper this Friday night at our club from 5-8pm. Pancake supper! Adults 13 years and older are $10, kids 5-12 are $5 and kids 4 and under are free. Pancakes, sausage, fried apples, coffee, tea, lemonade. Varina Women’s club is co-sponsoring this supper and proceeds will be put back into the community to help those in need. Tickets at the door!

Come on out to the Varina Big Toy parade. Plan to make it a day and stay for the boat parade.

Here are our award recipients from our last meeting. Left to Right: Dickie Yates and Doug Singlemann - Ruritan of the year, Dr. John Kowalski, MD - Varina Citizen of the year, Officer T. R. Craig - Police officer of the year, and FF Zachary Sayles - Fire Fighter of the year. Our Sheriff's Deputy of the year (Deputy Renee Brothers) was unable to attend last night and will receive her award at our December meeting (stay tuned). The evening was a huge success and well attended. Congrats to all.

Help us with our fundraiser this Saturday as we raise funds to help our community . Brunswick Stew sale at Varina Ruritan from 2-4pm @$12/quart. Come by snd get yours. The Super Bowl is coming up so get some to enjoy during the game! We thank you!
