Lighthouse Pregnancy Center / November 2013 to Present Day
In October of 2013, Tamela Polanin came on board as the new director of the Lighthouse Pregnancy Center. Tamela was instrumental in encouraging efforts that were already in progress to go medical, which would allow us to perform ultrasounds and STD/STI test
ing. LPHS already provided pregnancy tests, pregnancy education, and baby supplies to mothers. As the board and staff prepared to go medical, our center was simultaneously becoming busier than we could physically handle. In January of 2015, a property located in Vandalia was brought to the attention of the board. The board was successful in winning the bid for the property. In March of 2015, the Lighthouse Pregnancy Center was moved to its current location of 1703 W. Fletcher St, Vandalia, Illinois. Updates had to once again be made to prepare the building for our needs. With the help of employees, board members, and countless volunteers, the move was made and updates were done to prepare the new building for going medical. In July of 2015, we began offering ultrasounds. The effort that had been put into motion approximately ten years earlier had finally been realized. In 2019, we began offering Sexual Transmitted Infection (STI) Testing and Treatment. In 2021, we expanded our reach by opening a satellite office in Hillsboro, IL, now serving clients in Montgomery County and the surrounding area! In the spring of 2022, we launched our Mobile Medical Unit, serving clients with medical services on the road! Over the years, LPHS has continued to grow, and we are now averaging about 80 client visits per month. We have added a Parenting and Fatherhood Program to our extensive list of classes and services that we offer. We provide abstinence programs in local schools during the school year. We have also dramatically increased our number of volunteers. Lighthouse Pregnancy & Health Services is a growing mission committed to living out the principles that we were taught through the life and instruction of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
