Tannadoonah is located on 45 rolling acres above Birch Lake in Vandalia, Michigan (about 40 minutes from South Bend, IN). Campers live in rustic cabins in small groups with 2-3 counselors in each cabin. Activities include waterskiing, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, swimming, tennis, team building, outdoor cooking, drama, dance, photography, crafts, nature, sports & games, archery, jewelry making, yo
ga, and fishing. Plus we offer diving, science, soccer, basketball, volleyball, art, guitar, and CSI adventure programs during select weeks. Camp Tannadoonah is directed by Gabby Bittner, a former camper and counselor with over 10 years experience at Camp Tannadoonah. She holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Purdue University. With up to 150 campers per week, and 26 full time counselors, we offer a ratio of 5:1 or better at all times. Counselors are college-age and approximately half of the staff returns each summer. We have a registered nurse on site at all times, and all of the counselors are Red Cross certified in CPR and First Aid. We offer 3-day, 7-day, and 11-day overnight and day camp sessions. Each of the 8 sessions at Camp Tannadoonah has a theme. The themes are used to develop special evening activities, decorations for the dining hall and cabins, and meals. However, the themes do not change the normal daily activities offered to campers.
