What started as “if Grace can endure multiple surgeries, hospital stays, therapies & treatments - we can run a few miles” turned into, a team of incredible friends who continue to show up to run for something much bigger than ourselves 🤍

This is team Miles for Smiles, through this group of amazing individuals we’ve provided over 12 children with not only the smiles they deserve through free complete cleft surgery, but for many their chance at a healthy, “normal” life. Cleft is nuanced and goes FAR beyond what the eye can see. These surgeries are imperative for a child’s foundational health, incredibly expensive and often unattainable for children in underserved communities.

Next week we’re about to run nearly 200 miles once again for the Hood to Coast to prove there is Strength in Every Smile! Join us in our mission to provide even more smiles to the kids who need it most by donating to The Amazing Grace Project’s campaign for https://www.theamazinggraceproject.com/donate-2.

Or simply get out, move your body & tag The Amazing Grace Project so we know you’re with us on our mission to show the world there’s Strength in EVERY Smile 💛

With smile, gratitude & a lot of sweat,
Grace’s galloping gang (Team Miles for Smiles)

Miles for Smiles 💙🏃‍♀️

This August 28–29, The Amazing Grace Project is taking on the Hood to Coast Relay in Oregon, running as 'Miles for Smiles' to support Alliance for Smiles and children born with cleft lip and palate.

Founded by Brandy and Husten Pettet, The Amazing Grace Project was inspired by their daughter Grace’s cleft journey. Grace received life-changing care from Dr. Chris Zarella, a dedicated Alliance for Smiles volunteer, and that experience sparked a mission to give back.

What started as one family’s story has grown into a powerful movement – raising awareness, building community, and helping more children access the cleft care they need.

💙 Join us in supporting Miles for Smiles and transforming lives – one mile at a time.

Team Miles for Smiles is back! 🏃‍♀️🏃🏻

For the second year in a row, with Grace as motivation, our team is running Hood to Coast to raise money through The Amazing Grace Project for Alliance for Smiles.

Because of your incredible support, we’ve already helped provide 53 children with free, complete cleft surgeries. Through Hood to Coast, our goal is to make that number 60.

July is Cleft & Craniofacial Awareness Month 💛

One of our very first questions after Grace’s diagnosis was, “What caused her cleft?” The truth is, there isn’t one answer.

While we understand how clefts form, the reason why can be different for every child. Many families may never have a clear answer, and that is okay.

After months of testing and incredible care from our team at Randall Children’s Hospital, we learned that Grace has a rare genetic condition called Culler-Jones syndrome, affecting fewer than 1 in 1,000,000 people worldwide. We learned this is what caused Grace’s cleft + some extras 😜

Our Gracie girl was born with a cleft lip and palate, 12 fingers, hypopituitarism, hypothyroidism, adrenal insufficiency, hypoglycemia, and developmental delays. Every part of her story is connected, and every part has helped shape the remarkable little girl she is today.

Recently, through The Amazing Grace Project, we connected with another family in Wales who shares this diagnosis. They had been searching for years for a family who’s child also had Culler-Jones. This was a HUGE reminder about the importance of sharing Grace’s story.

This month, we celebrate every cleft and craniofacial journey and we share Grace’s story in hopes that another family feels a little less alone.

Because sometimes, one in a million finds another one in a million. 💗✨

It’s Cleft Awareness Week 💛

There is so much to share and educate around when it comes to cleft, and our mission is to continue to share those stories and facts. But this week, more than anything, I hope this message reaches a parent who may be new to their child’s cleft journey.

Before Grace was born, we constantly heard, “These kids are so resilient.” And luckily, all those people were spot on.

Cleft is so much more than a cosmetic difference, and every child’s journey is unique. But the strength, courage, and resilience these children carry is remarkable. Some days the appointments may feel endless and the results may feel bleak, but there is hope and there is light at the end of the tunnel for these little warriors. Grace continues to shine so brightly despite every obstacle she’s faced, and we are endlessly proud of her continued growth and courage.

If you see this, we hope you follow along or visit theamazinggraceproject.com as we continue spreading the message that there is Strength in Every Smile 💛

We are incredibly honored to share that $41,681.33 will be donated to Alliance for Smiles through The Amazing Grace Project following our inaugural Scramble for Smiles tournament.

Our hope for Grace is that her differences will become her superpower, today she is providing 41 children with the smiles they deserve because of your support. Every sponsorship, foursome, donation, silent auction bid, volunteer hour, and shared moment helped create a lasting impact for children born with cleft conditions in underserved communities.

We truly could not have done this without each and every one of you. Thank you for showing up, giving generously, and helping us spread the message that there is truly Strength in Every Smile.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making our inaugural tournament such an incredible success. We are already looking forward to next year and will share next year's date as soon as we can! 💛
