Clark County Community to Honor Homicide Victims at Annual Candlelight Memorial on September 25

VANCOUVER, WA – On Friday, September 25, 2026, the community is invited to gather at Esther Short Park from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for the Annual National Day of Remembrance for Murdered Victims. This candlelight vigil serves as a collective space to honor the lives of those lost to violence and to offer support to the families and individuals who continue to navigate the profound grief of homicide-related loss.

The event is co-hosted by the National Women's Coalition Against Violence & Exploitation (NWCAVE) and Odyssey World International Education Services (OWIES).

The memorial will feature reflections from local advocates, community leaders, and elected officials, including Michelle Bart (NWCAVE), Deputy Prosecutor Laurel Smith, Representative Sharon Wylie, and Karen Morrison (OWIES). Most importantly, the evening will center on the voices of families who have lost loved ones, providing a dedicated space for shared remembrance and solidarity.

This day is about ensuring that those we have lost are never forgotten and that the families they left behind know they are not walking this path alone,” said the organizers. “We invite the public to stand with us in peace and reflection.”

Call for Participation
If you have lost a loved one to homicide, you are invited to submit their name and a photo to be included in the memorial video. Please send submissions to [email protected].
