🟡 WA VOAD Members in Action: Northwest Baptist Disaster Relief
Across Washington, trained volunteers are stepping forward to serve communities affected by wildfire, and Northwest Baptist Disaster Relief is part of that response.
A ministry of Great Commission churches throughout Washington, Oregon, and Northern Idaho, Northwest Baptist Disaster Relief is the Pacific Northwest expression of the larger Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (SBDR), Send Relief, network. Their mission is centered on showing Christian love in action by meeting the urgent needs of people experiencing crisis.
Southern Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers serve communities throughout the disaster cycle, from initial damage assessment and immediate response through cleanup and helping families return home. Depending on the needs of a particular disaster, trained teams can provide services including mass feeding, debris removal and cleanup, flood and fire recovery, repairs and rebuilding, laundry services, and emotional and spiritual care.
Just as importantly, they don't do this work alone. Northwest Baptist Disaster Relief emphasizes coordinated deployment alongside government agencies and other disaster-response partners, a perfect example of why the VOAD network exists.
We're grateful to have Northwest Baptist Disaster Relief serving alongside fellow Washington Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster - WA VOAD members at the Spokane Disaster Assistance Center, helping Washington communities take their next steps toward recovery.
Different organizations. Different capabilities. One shared commitment to serving our neighbors when disaster strikes.
Cooperation. Communication. Coordination. Collaboration.
💛 Thank you to the Northwest Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers and all of our WA VOAD partners serving communities affected by Washington's wildfires.
