Two days of live bluegrass on the Columbia River, and everyone is invited.

The Waterfront Vancouver Bluegrass Festival is happening at Waterfront Park on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13. Eight bands join the stage, free to the public both days, with local artisans to browse between sets and local food, wine, and beer all along the river.

Saturday brings Jason Carter Band , Stillhouse Junkies , The Rosa Lees , and Jackstraw. Sunday answers with Never Come Down , Whiskey Deaf, Tuesday String Band , and Thunder Ridge .

Six o'clock on the Grant Street Pier and the loudest thing out there is usually the river. Tonight, it's five brass players.

The brings its Brass Quintet to the pier for the first of two Symphony Series evenings this month at The Waterfront Vancouver. One hour of live music with no walls around it, just open sky, the Columbia rolling past, and that late-August light going soft behind the players.

Come early, grab dinner! The pier fills in as the light softens and the good spots go first. Riverside tables book up fast on Symphony Thursdays too, so if dinner is part of the evening, you may want to reserve ahead.

The last Thursday of the summer belongs to New Orleans.

Tonight the Waterfront Concert Series closes out its 2026 season at Waterfront Park, and it goes out loud. Cha Wa brings Mardi Gras Indian funk straight from New Orleans to the Columbia River waterfront. Big brass, deep groove, the kind of set that turns a lawn full of camp chairs into a dance floor by the second song.

Thilo Kluth Trio opens.

Bring a blanket, come early, and stake out a spot on the grass while the sun is still high over the river. It is free, it is outdoors, and it is one of the best free things to do in Vancouver WA all summer.

Best-kept secret about The Waterfront Vancouver: weekday mornings on the Columbia River are the most peaceful in Clark County.

Before the lunch rush. Before the patios fill. Before the Waterfront Way street closure flips the district into weekend mode at 3 PM Friday. Just the river, the path, the boats, the runners, the dog walkers, and a couple of coffee shops with patios that open early. It is one of the easiest Vancouver WA morning routines you can build into a regular week, especially if you work hybrid or have a downtown meeting later.

Park once at The Waterfront Vancouver Parking Center, 700 W Columbia Way. Grab coffee at a tenant spot or your usual place. Walk the Renaissance Trail along the Columbia River waterfront for fifteen minutes in either direction. Sit on a bench. Watch a barge roll past. Walk back. Call it your meditation for the day. Twenty minutes and you walk into your morning with a different brain.

Two reasons to head down to The Waterfront Vancouver this week.

Thursday, July 9, the Waterfront Concert Series is back at Waterfront Park. Dina Y Los Rumberos bring their Cuban and Latin sound to the river from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, presented by The Waterfront Vancouver Parking Center. It's free. Bring a blanket or a low chair, grab dinner from one of the restaurants right on the water, and settle in as the sun goes down over the Columbia.

Then Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12, Vancouver's GoFest 2026 takes over Waterfront Park and the surrounding blocks. Expect a big, buzzy weekend as players explore the whole district, so come early, wander the shops, and make a day of it by the river.

Weekend starts at 43PM today. Waterfront Way closes to cars, and the whole walkable riverfront district opens up.

Stretches of Waterfront Way will close to vehicle traffic from 3 PM Friday to 6:30 AM Monday, every weekend through Labor Day and becomes a pedestrian street for the season. That means more room for the patios at the Grant Street Pier to spill out. Quieter conversation. Easier walks with strollers, dogs, and bikes. A clearer view of the Columbia River. The Vancouver Waterfront at its summer best.

Here is the weekend move that locals already know: park once at The Waterfront Vancouver Parking Center (700 W Columbia Way, entrance on Parkway Place). Walk to dinner at one of the restaurants at the Grant Street Pier. Walk out onto the pier for sunset. Walk back to one of the wineries for a tasting flight or a glass. Walk to your car when you are ready. The car-free street makes the whole evening feel like a small vacation an exit off I-5 from home.

Sunday on the Columbia River. Easily one of the best ways to spend a slow morning in Vancouver WA.

Coffee from a patio. A long walk along the riverfront path. The boats rolling past Grant Street Pier. Brunch when you are ready, not when you are rushed. The Waterfront Vancouver is built for the kind of Sunday that gets away from you in the best way, and the walkable riverfront district makes it easy to wander from one stop to the next without thinking about it.

Here is a Sunday loop locals love: start with coffee on a river-view patio, walk the Renaissance Trail along the Columbia, head out onto Grant Street Pier for the wide view, then brunch at one of the restaurants at the pier. Wrap the afternoon with a tasting flight at one of the several tasting rooms like Maryhill Winery, Airfield Estate or Willamette Valley Vineyards. The whole loop takes about three hours and feels like a day off in the middle of your weekend.
