It's First Friday! Four stops on tonight's art walk are right here at The Waterfront Vancouver. 🍂

• : meet the artist, get a quick intro to glassmaking, and try the First Friday food and drink specials
• **e: Arin Rae's Pacific Northwest paintings, with a glass of w**e in hand
• .at.t1: "The Stuff of Legends" at Terminal 1, open 4 to 8 PM
• : a tasting or dinner with a Columbia River view

Most stops run 5 to 8 PM. Park at The Waterfront Vancouver Parking Center, 700 W Columbia Way (entrance on Parkway Place), and walk the rest.

Tomorrow night is the First Friday Art Walk, and here's your map for the stops at The Waterfront Vancouver.

The art walk is hosted by , and all four stops here are an easy walk from one another. Here's one way to do it:
• Start at .at.t1 in Terminal 1, 403 Quayside Place (opens at 4 PM)
• Next, **e at 671 W Columbia Way for Arin Rae's paintings
• Then at 777 Waterfront Way to meet the artist
• Finish at , 801 Waterfront Way, with a glass of w**e by the Columbia River

Park once, explore more. The Waterfront Vancouver Parking Center at 700 W Columbia Way (entrance on Parkway Place) sits right in the middle of the route.

This Friday, October 2, the First Friday Art Walk is coming to The Waterfront Vancouver.

Every month, 's art walk opens gallery doors all over downtown Vancouver. This time, four of our neighbors along the river are on the map:

• .at.t1 at Terminal 1: "The Stuff of Legends," with Carson Legree's paintings of mythological characters and Abby Ketcham's expressive stuffies
• **e: featured artist Arin Rae, whose paintings draw on the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest
• : fall and Halloween glass art from , plus a chance to meet the artist
• : a glass of w**e and a Columbia River view between stops

Most stops are open 5 to 8 PM, and AQUA opens early at 4.

Some weekends you want to take home more than the memory.

The bands are bringing their own merch tent to The Waterfront Vancouver Bluegrass Festival this weekend, set up close to the stage. So when a set knocks you sideways and you decide you need the record, you can walk over and pick it up while it is still ringing in your ears.

Festival merch is already out in the wild too. Pop Local has it on the shelves right now, a few steps from the park, and there will be a booth on site both days.

• Saturday and Sunday, September 12 and 13
• Waterfront Park, 695 Waterfront Way, Vancouver WA
• Free, family friendly, rain or shine
• Bring any chair you like, or a blanket

Two big reasons the river is busy this weekend. Friday morning brings the Patriot Day Salute at Waterfront Park, hosted by CMAC. Saturday and Sunday, The Waterfront Vancouver Bluegrass Festival takes over the park with eight bands.

To make room for both, Waterfront Way between Parkway Place and Esther Street closes Friday, September 11 at 7 AM and reopens Sunday, September 13 at 10 PM.

Everything stays open. Here's how to get to it:

• ADA and passenger drop-off: the Esther Street roundabout, all weekend
• Park once at the Waterfront Vancouver Parking Center, 700 W Columbia Way, , and walk to everything
• Kirkland Tower garage and Hotel Indigo valet: valet-only access from Esther Street. Friday from 7 to 11 AM, valet moves to Columbia Way
• Skip southbound Esther Street while the closure is up

Restaurants, taprooms and shops are keeping normal hours all weekend. Only the route changes.

Tomorrow morning, the waterfront goes quiet for a while.

The Patriot Day Salute is Friday, September 11, from 9:00 AM to approximately 10:30 AM at Waterfront Park. The community is welcome to gather as we mark twenty-five years and honor the victims, the survivors, and the first responders of September 11, 2001.

The ceremony will include speakers, music, a ladder truck raised on Waterfront Way, fire boats on the Columbia, an aircraft flyover, a final alarm bell, a r***e salute, and Taps.

One thing worth knowing in advance: portions of the ceremony will be loud. The flyover, the bell, and the r***e salute are all planned parts of the tribute.

Allow a few extra minutes if you are parking or moving through the area during the ceremony.

This Saturday and Sunday, the Columbia River gets a soundtrack.

The Waterfront Vancouver Bluegrass Festival is back at Waterfront Park on September 12 and 13, free to the public both days. Eight bands, local artisans to browse between sets, and music starting at 12:30 Saturday and noon on Sunday.

Saturday: Jason Carter Band , Stillhouse Junkies , The Rosa Lees , and Jackstraw.

Sunday: Never Come Down , Wh***ey Deaf, Tuesday String Band , and Thunder Ridge .

Come hungry. The Waterfront's restaurants, taprooms, and w**eries are all right here, a few steps off the lawn, so you can slip away for a bite or a glass between sets and be back before the next band starts.

Bring a chair, any chair you like, or a blanket, and settle in on the grass. Tent structures will be up on site for shade or a passing shower. Get there early if you want a spot close to the stage.

Two days of live bluegrass on the Columbia River, and everyone is invited.

The Waterfront Vancouver Bluegrass Festival is happening at Waterfront Park on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13. Eight bands join the stage, free to the public both days, with local artisans to browse between sets and local food, w**e, and b**r all along the river.

Six o'clock on the Grant Street Pier and the loudest thing out there is usually the river. Tonight, it's five brass players.

The brings its Brass Quintet to the pier for the first of two Symphony Series evenings this month at The Waterfront Vancouver. One hour of live music with no walls around it, just open sky, the Columbia rolling past, and that late-August light going soft behind the players.

• This Thursday, August 20
• 6 to 7 PM
• Grant Street Pier at The Waterfront Vancouver
• Brass Quintet: Bruce Dunn and Scott Winks on trumpet, Dan Partridge on French horn, Ron Babcock on trombone, Mark Vehrencamp on tuba
• Next Thursday, August 27: the String Quartet closes out the series

Come early, grab dinner! The pier fills in as the light softens and the good spots go first. Riverside tables book up fast on Symphony Thursdays too, so if dinner is part of the evening, you may want to reserve ahead.
