🚸 Safer streets start with community voices.

Accessible Transportation Coalition encourages residents to take part in Clark County, Washington’s Neighborhood Traffic Management Program, a community-driven effort to address speeding, cut-through traffic, and neighborhood safety concerns.

Safer neighborhood streets make a real difference for older adults, people with disabilities, and anyone who relies on walking, rolling, or specialized transportation to reach medical care, grocery stores, and community resources.

If traffic safety is a concern where you live, you can request a neighborhood evaluation and explore solutions like speed calming measures, signage, and other improvements.

🚦 Have your say on Vancouver’s future streets! 🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️🚗

The Accessible Transportation Coalition supports the City of Vancouver’s effort to gather community input on upcoming Corridor Design Projects. Plans focused on improving safety, mobility, and comfort for people walking, biking, rolling and driving throughout the city. These projects aim to make streets safer and more accessible for everyone who moves around Vancouver.

📣 The City of Vancouver wants to hear from you!

Take the City of Vancouver’s Corridor Projects Transportation Survey and share your thoughts on how transportation and street design can better serve your community.

🚌 Accessible transit doesn’t start at the bus. It starts on the sidewalk.

In December 2024, the U.S. Department of Transportation adopted national accessibility standards (PROWAG) for sidewalks and transit stops, requiring features like curb ramps, clear walking paths, and accessible boarding areas. These standards took effect January 17, 2025.

Yet across the U.S., and here in Washington, many transit stops still lack basics like:
• Continuous sidewalks
• Safe crossings
• Benches or shelters
• Level, accessible boarding pads

🧠 Why this matters:
When sidewalks or stop amenities are missing, riders, especially older adults, people with disabilities, and those waiting in rain or cold, face real barriers just getting to transit. That’s a first-mile/last-mile equity issue.

📍 Right here in Clark County:
Clark County is actively identifying these gaps through its ADA Transition Plan for Transportation Facilities, and community input helps prioritize where improvements happen next.

🗣️ Have you noticed a sidewalk gap, unsafe crossing, or hard-to-use transit stop? Your experience matters. Share feedback and help shape a more accessible transportation system for everyone:
