A Better Way for BPA

A Better Way for BPA Building on BPA's existing right-of-way: Least intrusive to private land, Least costly, Least impact to the environment We like electricity.

A Better Way for BPA is a WA State Non-Profit Corporation. We are an organized group of rural landowners encompassing Clark and Cowlitz counties. We chose to live away from infrastructure. We are not against Bonneville Power Administration. However, we are against BPA creating a new transmission corridor for their I-5 Corridor Reinforcement Project. We say BPA should run their 500 kV transmission lines on the right-of-way it already owns, where they planned for expansion 70 years ago.

The Trump Administration’s proposal to sell the Bonneville Power Administration’s transmission system is meeting strong opposition from both Washington and Oregon’s congressional delegations.

In an email from BPA dated today 2/15/2017 - "Our most recent information is posted on the main page of the I-5 project website.
The Administrator has not yet made a decision about the I-5 Corridor Reinforcement Project. BPA continues to perform and prepare analysis to inform the administrator’s decision. BPA recognizes the potential stakeholder and cost impacts of such a decision, and remains committed to making the right investment at the right time. We appreciate the patience and input from the community and our customers. This is a large project with profound implications for landowners in the greater Portland-Vancouver area and for BPA ratepayers.
We will update stakeholders as soon as possible, and are diligently working toward a decision." https://www.bpa.gov/Projects/Projects/I-5/Pages/default.aspx

BPA was contacted about the final decision on the I-5 Reinforcement Project that was expected last month.
Their response -
"We recognize stakeholders were expecting a decision by the end of the 2016 year, but the Administrator has requested more analysis to best inform his decision. We appreciate the community’s input. This is a very large project with profound implications for landowners in the greater Portland-Vancouver area and Bonneville ratepayers. We plan to update stakeholders as soon as possible in January 2017. We remain committed to making the right investment at the right time and are diligently working toward a decision."
