We had a great time at the Derby last Saturday! Volunteers that helped out were Phil Lewis (KJ7ZMH), Tracy Liday (KK7TLL), Terry Dusenberry (KB7EHC), Penny McLaren (KJ7BMH), Scott Beckstrom (KK7AXO), Eric McGrady (K6HMG), Fred Bartz (K8GBA), Brad Jackson (KJ7YNZ), Pete Jackson (KK7NWU). Tracy helped scouts and adults make nine 2M contacts on the club repeater. Thanks to Stan (KF7OJA), David (WN7IFE), David (K7DES), Dave (WZ8T), Larry (KK7HD) and Ron (KD7EQL) for providing a "distant end" for us! Phil, Tracy and myself made twenty-seven FT8 contacts which will be counted for the POTA activation. Lessons learned: (1) Unfortunately, the 2M contacts didn't count for POTA because they were made through a repeater...lesson learned: Have a simplex freq preprogramed to switch to for a POTA contact! (2) I brought my Inovato Ham Clock but couldn't connect to the internet...lesson learned: check connections! When breaking down I discovered I hadn't pushed the HDMI cable completely into the Rasberry Pi! (3) Remember to take pictures...'Nuf said!! Thanks, again, to all who participated!
