Thank You to Jaime Bertran ⚾
Before we welcome our new HDLL Board—some new faces and some familiar ones—I want to take a minute to thank Jaime Bertran for everything he has given to Hazel Dell Little League over the last five years.
Jaime has been one of those people who has done a little bit of everything around here. He spent much of his time on the Board serving as Vice President, but over the years he has worn several hats and stepped in wherever the league needed him.
He has been a coach, All-Star manager, Board member, Vice President, Co-President, field maintenance guy, auction MC, umpire for more than a few games, and our unofficial tech guy. Basically, if something needed to be fixed, installed, announced, umpired, figured out, or plugged in—we called Jaime.
This past year, I had the opportunity to serve alongside him as Co-President. Together we answered what felt like a million texts, emails, and phone calls, lived in approximately 47 group texts, handled countless “quick questions,” made some tough decisions, solved a lot of problems, and somehow survived our first year working together as a team.
But through all the different roles, titles, meetings, projects, and responsibilities, Jaime has always been willing to show up for HDLL.
Little League runs because people volunteer their time—and five years is a lot of practices, games, meetings, field work, weekends, evenings, and time away from family. So much of what happens behind the scenes goes unnoticed, and Jaime has given countless hours to making HDLL a better place for our players and families.
As we transition to our next Board, I want to make sure we recognize Jaime, who has been such a big part of our league for the last five years.
Jaime, thank you for your leadership, your friendship, and everything you have done for our players, families, coaches, volunteers, and HDLL.
With much appreciation,
Esther Jording-Hawkins (DD)
Hazel Dell Little League President
