NW Neighborhood

NW Neighborhood NW Neighborhood Association, Vancouver Washington The Discovery Trail along Burnt Bridge Creek is a popular recreational facility.

The neighborhood is comprised entirely of single family development and is characterized by well-kept, older homes. The homes are primarily owner-occupied and the area has a very stable and balanced population of young families, middle-aged people, and retirees. The neighborhood is also home to two elementary schools, Ben Franklin and Our Lady of Lourdes, and three residential care homes. As the n

eighborhood is situated on a promontory, many neighbors enjoy views of Vancouver Lake, the surrounding lowlands, and Stewart Glen. Franklin Park is a favorite gathering place with tremendous views. The area has abundant trees and landscaping with few curbs and sidewalks. Neighbors say that the Northwest Neighborhood has a “country in the city” feeling.

Clean up day is coming up fast! Our neighborhood clean up day is June 6 from 8am-Noon at 58th and Lincoln. This year we have a need for more pick up drivers to take items to clean up day for residents who don't have a way to get them to the collection area. If you have a pickup truck or utility trailer and are willing to help for a few hours it would be much appreciated. All volunteers receive a "fast pass" to go to the front of the line. If you can help, contact pick up team coordinator Peter Fels at at [email protected] or call him at 360-609-1655.

At the May 11 Vancouver City Council meeting, President Ben McCarty testified on behalf of the Neighborhood Association, which recently passed two resolutions regarding the City of Vancouver's proposed comprehensive plan update. Several neighbors also testified before city council. City Council voted to send the final draft of the comprehensive plan update to a public hearing on June 1, the final step before adoption.

To learn more about the proposed update to the comprehensive plan go here: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/82d081f7815941bd85ca07270144a125

The Northwest Neighborhood Association encourages all neighbors, regardless of their position on the Comprehensive Plan update, to submit testimony, or testify in person at the public hearing, which will be held on June 1 at 6:30pm at City Hall.
