Foundation for Vancouver Public Schools Helping students get to school happy, healthy and ready to learn. Approximately 22,000 students attend Vancouver Public Schools.

Over half qualify for subsidized meals, which is a federal indicator of poverty. That's approximately 12,000 youth in our own community who lack the basic necessities to be successful in school and in life. The Foundation for Vancouver Public Schools is an independent, 501(c)3 educational non-profit corporation established in 1988 to support Vancouver Public Schools. Donations from individuals, businesses, and other non-profit organizations are directed to programs and projects where funding is not available. Our programs include a Basic Needs Checkbook at every school, medical & dental care, mentoring programs like Lunch Buddies and Young Women in Action, classroom enrichment grants, and scholarships for graduating seniors.

We're excited to share our latest Annual Report and the impact your support made possible! 💙

Last year, 1,503 students in our district experienced homelessness, and more than 40% of Foundation direct support went toward helping meet basic needs, alongside educational and enrichment opportunities that help students thrive.

As one Family-Community Resource Coordinator shared:
"My words fall short of what the Foundation can do to bring hope to a student in need."

Thank you to our donors, partners, and community for helping us support more than 21,300 students. We can't wait to see what we accomplish together this year! ✨

🎥 What does every student deserve?

We asked six members of our Foundation community to finish that sentence, and their answers say it all. As Give More 24! wraps up today, we're reminded that every student deserves opportunities, support, and the chance to reach their full potential.

💙 Today is the last day to give!

🎶If Elizabeth’s job had a theme song, it would be "We’re All in This Together" from High School Musical, and honestly, that says it all!

Meet Elizabeth, another one of our amazing Family-Community Resource Coordinators! Her favorite part of the job is bringing families together through family engagement events that create connections, celebrate students, and strengthen our school communities.

Every day, Elizabeth helps build bridges between families, schools, and community resources. Through the dedication of our amazing FCRCs and the support of community partners, we're helping remove barriers so students can learn, grow, and thrive. ✨

Meet two more of our incredible Family-Community Resource Coordinators!

Students have even given them superhero names:

🎒 Yvette = “La Señora de la Mochila” (or “The Backpack Lady”) because she's always helping students get the supplies they need to come to school ready to learn.

🍎 Veronica = "The Snack Lady" because students come visit when they’re hungry, or just need a pick-me-up.

No two days are the same for Yvette and Veronica. Each day brings new opportunities to support students and families and make a difference in their school community.

Through the work of our amazing FCRCs and the support of our community partners, we're helping remove barriers so students can learn, grow, and thrive.

💙Want to help? We're in the middle of Give More 24! and working toward our $7,500 goal. Through September 24, the first $2,500 donated will be tripled!

How One Donor Helped Save Four Staff Positions

For retired teacher and longtime Foundation supporter Jan Oliva, investing in early learning means investing in the future of our community.

When Washington State funding cuts put several Transitional Kindergarten (TK) positions at risk, Jan stepped up with generous support to help preserve four staff positions — helping more young learners get the extra support, confidence, and skills they need to thrive. 💚

Her story is a powerful reminder that when our community invests in students early, the impact can last a lifetime.

Read our latest Donors Making a Difference story to learn more about Jan’s commitment to early learning and the difference her generosity is making for VPS students.

💚 What can $25 do? A LOT.

For Give More 24! we asked some of our staff and board members to show us just how far $25 can go for a Vancouver Public Schools students.

It may be just $25, but it can mean so much to a VPS student.

▶️ Watch to see what $25 can do!

Meet Lori.

As a dedicated member of the Foundation for Vancouver Public Schools Board of Directors, Lori Wick helps guide our mission, shape strategy, and ensure we stay focused on supporting students and families across Vancouver Public Schools. We're grateful for volunteers like Lori whose leadership helps keep the Foundation moving forward!

When asked why she chose to serve, Lori shared:

“I decided to get involved with the Foundation after becoming a Lunch Buddy in 2008, seeing the needs of the individual students, and recognizing how much the Foundation for Vancouver Public Schools supported the FCRCs, the children, and their families.”

Thanks to the dedication of community members like Lori, the Foundation is able to remove barriers and ensure students and families have the support they need to thrive.

🎉 We're over halfway to our Give More 24! goal of $7,500!

Now through September 24, your gift can make an even bigger impact. Thanks to two generous donors, the first $2,500 donated will be tripled, helping us support even more local students and families.
