In July 2025, a boat trip off the coast of Batroun led to the unexpected rescue of a baby sea turtle. Marine biologist Marcos Hado spotted the animal trapped in a plastic mesh bag. Carefully, he managed to bring it onto the boat and cut the plastic without harming it.

After freeing it and checking that it had no injuries, he returned it to the sea, where it swam away again. The incident highlighted the impact of plastic waste, which harms thousands of marine species every year 💔😔.
