I got a lot of flak on "X" for this post

It's not comfortable

It goes against everything we've been taught from the pulpit

But those Seven Letters in Revelation are not to the Seven Churches

They are to the 'messengers'

The same word is used of John the Baptist (Matthew 11:10)

The same word is used of John's followers (Luke 7:29)

The same word is used of Jesus' disciples (Luke 9:52)

The 'Stars' are 'Messengers' (Revelation 1:20) and probably analogous to today's missionaries

'Apostles' if you will

Church planters

"I know thy works..."

"I have this against thee..."

"Thou art fallen..."

"Anoint thine eyes..."

That would be the Second Person Singular for you language mavens (and we all ought be); not plural

Not "Y'all"

Nor "All y'all"

Thee/thine/thou/thy

Singular

So what of, "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches"?

What is Jesus telling the Church?

This-

Be very, very careful who you follow

Who you put into leadership

Who you pray over and lay hands on in ordination

They may lead you into grave error

Or worse

Today at Church we learned...
..that there are not 'Seven Letters' to 'Seven Churches'

There were seven letters to seven church pastors/elders

Those letters were not to the congregants

They were to leadership

An hour ago, I drove past Planned (un)Parenthood

Every spot on the street was taken- including the one directly across from the entrance

I ran an errand

Today at Church we learned...
..that there are not 'Seven Letters' to 'Seven Churches'

There were seven letters to seven church pastors/elders

Those letters were not to the congregants

They were to leadership

I'm not usually here at 7:30 but God had other plans as I parked on a vacant street

Within ten minutes that street was parked full

45 minutes later and two Bibles have been handed out, coffee served and a good conversation had
