So proud to have an endorsement from the ILWU. Since 1937 ILWU members have provided skilled labor to the Port of Vancouver and Northwest Ports. Their services dockside and shoreside are critical to our community and commerce. I want to thank them for all they do to keep our community running and for their endorsement of my campaign!

"We are shocked that SSA is taking such an action, and we are currently regrouping to determine how to proceed in negotiations while we watch an employer violate the very provision of the contract over which the parties were bargaining,” ILWU Coast Committeeman Cameron Williams said in the statement.

The ILWU said a stevedoring company is trying to get the National Labor Relations Board involved in awarding jobs that by contract should go to its members.

ILWU IN SOLIDARITY WITH UKRAINE WILL NOT HANDLE RUSSIAN CARGO AT U.S. WEST COAST PORTS

Union representing 20,000 workers at all 29 U.S. West Coast ports announces that dockworkers will not touch Russian vessels or cargo until further notice

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (March 3, 2022) – Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine is an act of aggression that endangers a population of more than 40 million people, including millions of innocent men, women, and children. Accordingly, effective immediately, the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), some 20,000 workers strong in 29 ports up and down the United States West Coast, will refuse to load or unload any Russian vessels or Russian cargo coming into or going out of all West Coast ports from Bellingham, Washington to San Diego, California.

“With this action in solidarity with the people of Ukraine, we send a strong message that we unequivocally condemn the Russian invasion,” said ILWU International President Willie Adams.

“West Coast dockworkers are proud to do our part to join with those around the world who are bravely taking a stand and making sacrifices for the good of Ukraine.”
