Back in 1994, this is what the Washougal Community Library looked like. This community library has been a beloved gathering place for readers, homework-doers, and job-seekers for over four decades now.

Now, The Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation is helping to build what's next. Construction is underway this fall on a brand-new Washougal Library, opening in early 2028. This new library will be designed to serve this growing community for generations to come.

Last month, we announced a $6 million gift from The Endeavour Fund to support the new Washougal Community Library project. The Foundation has $400,000 more to raise to complete our $10.4M fundraising campaign. August is National Make-a-Will Month!

For 35 years, the FVRL Foundation has supported the libraries you love across Southwest Washington. Over the last three decades, many supporters have chosen to invest in their libraries and create their legacy through their will. An estate gift, whether a bequest in your will, a beneficiary designation, or a gift of assets is one of the most powerful ways to give back to your community, and it’s more accessible than most people realize.

Eight months after launch, the Library of Things has become one of the most beloved additions to FVRLibrary shelves and it's growing fast!

Because of Foundation supporters, people across our district can now borrow what they need to build, cook, create, and explore. DIY enthusiasts, culinary creators, independent workers, entrepreneurs, and hobbyists are all finding something here, alongside high-utility tools and musical instruments that would otherwise be out of reach for many families. The library has also expanded offerings for young learners with STEM-focused educational toys. There's so much more on the way including the next phase which will introduce screen-free audio literacy tools for children.

Join us for an unforgettable evening at FVRL Foundation's Authors & Illustrators Gala, featuring bestselling author Amy Tan, as we celebrate our 35th Anniversary! This annual gathering brings together community members who share a love of libraries and a commitment to supporting them.

The evening will begin with a cocktail hour and silent auction, followed by a gourmet dinner program where Amy Tan takes the stage to share stories from her latest book, The Backyard Bird Chronicles.
