Budget proposals in the Legislature make deep cuts to education, including to Transition to Kindergarten programs and summer Running Start.
The proposals, if adopted, are part of a larger trend in the state Legislature of allocating less and less of the overall budget to public education.
These budgets don't reflect our state's values when it comes to public education. Just a few weeks ago, voters in Washington showed their support for schools by approving 95% of the levies on the ballot.
These budgets harm schools and limit opportunities for students. State Superintendent Chris Reykdal writes about the potential impact of these proposals in a new op-ed: https://www.thenewstribune.com/.../article314894675.html...
