security, improve health, increase their economic opportunities, and care for the environment. Our Weapon in the Fight Against Poverty & Health Issues: The Moringa Tree. Moringa is a multi-faceted, multi-purpose plant that thrives in the tropics. Moringa leaves are a powerhouse of nutrition and the seeds of the tree purify water. These two things alone are a huge benefit to families living in marginal situations. In addition to providing good nutrition and clean water, moringa also provides small business opportunities for families through the sale, in both local and international markets, of a variety of products that come from the tree. Our Approach: We train local Peer Educators in basic nutrition and the cultivation and uses of the moringa tree, empowering them to take the knowledge they've gained and to use it to teach others in their own communities and beyond. This sustainable approach encourages our participants to take ownership of their moringa project and their community's health and well-being from day-one of working with Strong Harvest. Through our training programs and post-training follow-up and support, people are empowered to meet their own most basic life needs. Families learn that they truly are able to attain nutritious food, create new economic opportunities, and protect their land from erosion and deforestation right in their own backyards!
