Farewell... Columbia Crest Lions of Vancouver Washington has had an amazing 26-year life. As we sadly and reluctantly close this club’s chapter, we especially thank four of the original charter members who have remained steadfast. Over the past several years our numbers have dwindled; the leadership is tired, and it is time to say HOORAY for all that we accomplished.
Our many FUN-fundraising projects gave thousands of dollars to Lions Sight Foundation of Clark County, Lions Hearing Foundation, LCIF, CARE, Diabetes and Cancer research, Kids’ camps and Principal’s pocketbook, Leader Dogs, Clark County Food Bank, the Joy Project, SHARE House, Emil Fries Piano Hospital, Washington State School for the Blind and the Washington State School for the Deaf both located in Vancouver, Wash. And so many small groups and individuals, including academic scholarships, gift cards to veterans, holiday meals, kids’ clothing and backpacks, personal care packets delivered in used eyeglass cases, and peanut butter. Not to mention the thousands upon thousands of eyeglasses collected over the past 26 years!
We have served faithfully the mission of LIONS Clubs International, and now those remaining will each determine where their new home club will be or how we will continue to serve our community. We are grateful for the hundreds of LIONS who have joined us, supported us, and partnered with us and who will welcome our remaining members.
Thank you to a generous and kind community in East Vancouver, and especially to IHOP on SE 164th for being our home for so many years. We salute our leaders and workers who have given thousands of hours of their time to make this a special place to live and serve. WE ARE LIONS. We are a family, and WE SERVE.
