Calling all volunteers! 📣

Join us for our next Stewardship Saturday, sponsored by Sol Minion Development, on October 24 from 9 am - 12 pm. ⚒️

We’ll be weeding and tidying up around our administrative buildings and spreading fresh mulch throughout the site to keep our grounds looking their best. Join us for a day outdoors as we care for the spaces that make Columbia Springs special and help keep our site welcoming for the walkers, community members, and students who visit throughout the year. 🌱💚

We have a super special Nature Day coming up next Saturday, October 17!

Not only will we explore the (Not So) Scary creatures we think about during this spooky season, we will have volunteer fixers from Columbia Springs Repairs on site!

Here are the highlights:
🐀 Catch a opossum chat by a local expert at 11.
♻ Test your recycling knowledge with Waste Connections
💡 Lamp Repair Demonstrations, 10 am - 12 pm
- Bring your own lamps (limit 2) and learn how to make simple repairs with
experienced volunteers
(replacing sockets, switches, plugs and cords, basic rewiring).
- Bring replacement parts you may need (cords, plugs, sockets, switches)
- This is a hands on learning opportunity, not a drop off repair service.
🔪 Knife Sharpening Demonstration, 12 - 1 pm
- Learn how to use knife sharpening tools under the guidance of an experienced
volunteer!
- Bring up to 3 knives

All activities are free! No RSVP or registration required. All are welcome. 💚

Costumes are encouraged at this spooky Nature Day! 👻

Are you interested in volunteering at Columbia Springs, but pulling blackberry and shoveling mulch just doesn't bring you joy? 🌿

There are many different ways to get involved and support our mission!
🔎 Interact with the community and share your environmental knowledge and enthusiasm at a Nature Day or on a field trip.
🛠 Become a volunteer fixer for Columbia Springs Repairs.
🐟 Help kids fish at our annual fishing event.
🎉 Prep and set up for events (like Hooked on Nature).
🍂 Maintain trails.
📁Organize admin supplies and prep materials for field trips.

Volunteer with a group or on your own.

🖤 The Bumblebee Bat is the smallest in the world! It weighs less than 1 oz and measures less than 3 in in length.
🖤 The Giant Golden-crowned Flying Fox is the largest bat with a wingspan of over 6 ft!
🖤 The Mexican Free-Tailed bat can reach speeds of 100 mph!

Our hands on programs connect directly to classroom learning and get students outside making real discoveries.

Worried about rain or cold? We’ve got you covered! 🌧️❄️ We have rain jackets and cold weather gear available to borrow, plus time indoors and under cover.

And a little secret… rainy days can be some of the best days for wildlife sightings! 🐦🌧️
