Federal land managers are spraying a cocktail of chemicals onto public lands in an effort to treat invasive species. But more often than not, these treatments cause other problems that are then also dealt with using chemicals. The cycle, say critics, leads to a no-win situation where land never fully recovers, and millions are spent constantly treating issues as they emerge.

Residents of the town of The Dalles, Oregon, use very little water in comparison to their data center neighbor, Google.

Now the company wants to build more data centers, and the town’s leaders are all too eager to provide them with more water, a valuable resource in an area already suffering from the effects of climate change.

Who wants to build Beaver Dam Analogs (BDAs)? 🙋🏻‍♀️ Habitat restoration doesn't have to involve costly high-tech solutions. Community helpers can make a REAL difference with simple interventions that mimic natural processes and support healthy ecosystems.

We're partnering with the Lower Columbia Fish Enhancement Group and Cascade Forest Conservancy for a special volunteer opportunity. Come explore a unique part of the Mount St. Helens landscape and help restore Bear Creek!

BDAs slow the flow of water, reduce stream bank erosion, and improve habitat habitat for fish. These simple structures are built with natural materials such as wooden posts, weave material (typically willow, spruce, or other on-site vegetation), gravel, mud, wood chips, and sod. All you need is teamwork and a willingness to get stuck in!

BREAKING: Today, a federal judge issued an emergency injunction BLOCKING border barrier and road construction across the Big Bend region. The Trump Administration had lifted a temporary pause on construction in Big Bend National Park earlier this week.

This victory is the result of months of organizing and bipartisan support for an end to the destruction. Thousands of people in Texas and across the nation told our leaders to put a stop to bulldozing in Big Bend National Park, Big Bend Ranch State Park, and surrounding lands.

We are grateful to the Center for Biological Diversity, Friends of the Ruidosa Church, and a Big Bend-area river guide and landowner who led the lawsuit that resulted in this victory. Sierra Club, our Lone Star Chapter, and National Parks Conservation Association backed them in court, represented by Earthjustice. And many other partners, community members, and allies have also joined the fight.

Washington transportation leaders are making progress on a plan that will determine the viability of building a high-speed rail line between Portland and Vancouver, B.C.

New cars could soon be less fuel efficient and drivers could pay the price.

Sierra Club, along with a coalition of environmental and consumer protection groups, is suing the Trump administration over its rollback of federal fuel economy standards.

The weakened standards would mean:

⛽ 121+ billion more gallons of fuel consumed through 2050
💸 $1,600+ more in fuel costs over the lifetime of affected vehicles
🚗 New vehicles in 2031 could be less efficient than vehicles from 2024

The standards being rolled back were projected to save drivers 64 billion gallons of gas and deliver $35 billion in savings to consumers over the lifetimes of the vehicles covered.

Drivers shouldn’t have to pay more at the pump because automakers are being allowed to make less-efficient cars.
