Big News from Sapling Heights!

Today, two incredible young adults who aged out of foster care this fall and found themselves homeless have secured safe, affordable housing through our program!

At Sapling Heights, we are committed to providing housing and support services for young adults who experience homelessness after leaving foster care. Our mission is to empower them to build stable, independent lives by offering not only a place to call home but also resources for personal and professional growth.

Saturday we will be moving two youth into stable housing, we are in need of a full size bed and dining set to seat 4.

Please reach out if you have any items we could pick up to start these young adults on a journey of stability.

As a 501(c)3 nonprofit we can provide you with a donation receipt and can pickup curbside Saturday.

A Vancouver housing nonprofit has opened a waitlist for people ages 18 to 24 exiting the foster care system to rent accessory dwelling units starting in spring 2025.

Many people exiting the foster care system lack rental history, credit scores and co-signers, which are typically required by landlords, McGee said. Sapling Heights won’t impose those requirements, she said.

The one- and two-bedroom homes will be for those making less than 60 percent of the area median income (that is, less than $49,560 a year for an individual). A one-bedroom unit will rent for $1,106 and a two bedroom for $1,327, which includes water, garbage and sewer fees. Rent for the ADUs would remain affordable for 20 years, per ADU Foundation’s requirements.

Next week, two incredible young people will be moving into their first permanent homes after aging out of foster care. These young adults have faced unimaginable challenges, and now they need our help to create a safe and comfortable space as they begin this new chapter.

We are urgently seeking donations of essential housing items, including:

🛏️ Bedding (Queen sheets, blankets, pillows)
🍽️ Kitchenware (dishes, pots/pans, utensils)
🧺 Towels (bath and hand towels)
📺 Living (Tv, end tables)
