🐋 SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: Swim with Humpback Whales & participate in whale acoustics data collection!

Have you ever dreamed of swimming alongside humpback whales in one of the most incredible marine environments on Earth?

The Seabirds Foundation is excited to offer a scholarship opportunity for one aspiring explorer to join us in the Silver Bank, Dominican Republic—a world-renowned humpback whale sanctuary where thousands of North Atlantic Humpback whales gather each year to breed, calve, and sing.

As part of our expedition team, you'll help collect real-world marine science data, deploy citizen science tools, document whale behavior, and contribute to passive acoustic monitoring efforts that help scientists better understand and protect whale communication habitats.

✨ No science degree required
✨ No previous expedition experience required
✨ No diving experience necessary, this is swimming/snorkel only
✨ Just curiosity, a sense of adventure, and a desire to make a difference

Whether you're a student, mom, educator, artist, aspiring scientist, or someone who has always dreamed of becoming an explorer, we encourage you to apply.

At The Seabirds, we believe exploration should be accessible to everyone—and that some of the most important discoveries come from everyday people willing to step outside their comfort zone.

We love sharing opportunities that help young people step into real-life experiences and grow their confidence.

Opus School of Music and Art is currently looking for summer camp mentors at their Camas location—an amazing opportunity for teens ages 14–18 to build skills, gain hands-on experience, and be part of a creative, supportive environment.

Whether it’s helping younger students, exploring leadership, or simply trying something new, experiences like this are exactly how young adults start discovering their interests and strengths.

If you have a teen who might be interested, this could be a great way to make the most of summer ☀️

Opus is looking for summer camp mentors (ages 14–18) to assist our music, dance/theater, and art teachers during our summer program at the Camas campus. No prior experience in the arts is required.

Mentors attend camp for free, support both teachers and campers, and help facilitate activities throughout the week including the final Friday performances. Mentors begin our early mentor training program for future young-teacher teaching opportunities or possible school year teacher aids. These camps are fun, interactive, and creative- and they’re a great way to get experience.

We have 7 camps running this summer from June 29th to August 14th, and they’re filling quickly! We aim to have 3–4 mentors per camp. Mentors are encouraged to attend the full week (Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–2:00 PM), though we can make some scheduling exceptions if needed.

If you have students, families, neighbors, or anyone in your circle who might be interested in this mentoring opportunity, please ask them to contact [email protected] for more details.

Ever wondered what a small, intentionally designed high school environment for AtlasMHS could look like?

What if one space could support individualized learning, small group lessons, and a strong sense of community—all within a smaller footprint?

Thanks to ClearSpace Design, we were able to take our ideas and translate them into an inspiring vision—one that shows how a thoughtfully designed space can feel both functional and welcoming, while supporting the way students learn, connect, and grow.

What would you want to see in a space like this?

We’re excited to share that Susi Holland has joined the Atlas Montessori High School Board of Directors and will be serving as our Treasurer.

Susi has been part of the AtlasMHS project since the very early stages, contributing as a member of the leadership team and helping organize many of our grassroots fundraising events that have supported the vision for the school.

As a Montessori parent for over 10 years, she deeply believes in individualized learning and meaningful educational experiences. Her long-standing connection to the Vancouver Montessori community and her dedication to Atlas make this a natural next step.

As AtlasMHS enters the next development stage, Susi’s leadership and financial expertise will help guide our organization forward and bring our vision for a Montessori-informed high school in Vancouver closer to reality.

Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Susi in her new role!

Students have been hard at work preparing for the Bazaar—planning, creating, marketing, and pricing their own products. It’s such a great example of real-world learning and entrepreneurial spirit in action.

Stop by and check it out—you’ll find a wide variety of handmade items and plenty of delicious baked goods!

Even better, some of the proceeds will be donated to I Paw It Forward 🐾

Hope to see you there!

Come join us for our Bazaar of Wonderful Arts and Items!

Looking for a summer camp where kids and teens can explore music and try something new? Our friends and supporters at School of Rock Vancouver, WA have a great lineup of summer camps this summer. Some camps are perfect for beginners who want to try music for the first time, while others are designed for students who already have some experience.

Camps usually end with a live performance at the end of the week, and camp hours are 9 AM – 3 PM.

A fun way for students to build skills, collaborate, and perform!

We’re excited to welcome Taylore Holmquist to the Atlas Montessori High School Board of Directors!

Taylore first connected with Atlas last year as a volunteer after learning about our work to develop a small, Montessori-informed high school option for Clark County.

As a high school educator, she brings valuable classroom experience and a strong interest in individualized, student-centered learning. Taylore is already familiar with Montessori education through early childhood programs and is continuing her training to deepen her understanding of the Montessori approach at the secondary level.

As Atlas moves through its development phase and continues strengthening the board, Taylore’s experience as an educator will contribute valuable insight to the ongoing development of the academic program.

We’re grateful to have her sharing her time, expertise, and passion with Atlas.

Welcome to the board, Taylore!

We had a wonderful evening attending the Lupine Experiential School Gala.

Atlas Montessori High School’s Executive Director Julia Krivoruk and board member Susi Holland were grateful to join the celebration and connect with families and supporters who care deeply about thoughtful, meaningful education for children.

Thank you to the Lupine community for welcoming us so warmly and inviting us into your space. It was inspiring to see the care and commitment that goes into creating learning environments where young people can grow, explore, and develop confidence.

We also enjoyed the many conversations with parents who were curious to hear more about where Atlas Montessori High School is in the process. It was wonderful to share updates and talk about the careful, responsible work that goes into launching a school. We’re grateful for the interest and encouragement as we continue building toward opening.✨
