VFF volunteers work hard to keep these spaces clean and safe while managing weather-related closures, repairs, local business contribution pickups / drop-offs and general maintenance.

We encourage everyone to help keep these locations welcoming for the entire community.

If you notice something that needs attention, please reach out. Your constructive feedback and support help us stay on top of potential issues.

Every helping hand makes a difference.

This effort is held together by a small group of neighbors, and at times it can feel overwhelming - especially with everything happening in the world.

But with community support, we keep showing up and doing what we can. We are all in this together.
Kindness, compassion, and care go a long way in lifting each other up.

Thank you for being part of this community.

Hot Weather Safety Notice!

Due to high temperatures, VFF locations are accepting limited food donations on Tuesday, to help keep everyone in our community safe.

To prevent spoilage and foodborne illness, please DO NOT drop off perishable items for the fridge or freezer this Tuesday, June 2nd:

- Soft dairy (milk, yogurt, soft cheeses)
- Fresh produce (fruits and vegetables)
- Eggs
- Items in glass jars (risk of breakage and contamination)

The community refrigerators and freezers are not guaranteed to stay powered during extreme heat outdoors, and these items can spoil quickly and become unsafe to consume.

As always, volunteers will do their best to store leftover perishable food until the hot weather passes, but capacity is limited during extreme temperatures.

Side note: If you happen to see something that doesn’t feel right, please let us know. This project thrives with local community support and is held together by neighbors doing their best.

We appreciate your care and support in making sure the fridge remains a safe and reliable resource for everyone. If you’re unsure about an item, it’s best to hold off or reach out before donating.

Thank you.

There isn’t a fixed schedule for regular community fridge or pantry restocking.

Donations arrive whenever neighbors, local businesses, community organizations or volunteers have food to share. Some days the fridges may be restocked multiple times, while other days donations may come in more slowly.

That’s the nature of a community-run mutual aid system. It depends on collective care, generosity, and trust. Every item placed in the fridge is shared by someone in the community who wants to help meet a neighbor’s needs.

We encourage everyone to check back regularly, take what is useful and contribute if they are able. Whether it’s a full grocery haul, extra produce from a garden, pantry staples, or prepared meals, every donation helps keep the project going and supports food access for all.

Thank you for helping us grow a stronger, more connected community here in Vancouver WA.

Last week, the lights at Uptown’s community fridge and pantry were damaged. Through community outreach, replacement lights were secured at no cost within 24 hours, and they’ll be installed as soon as possible.

It’s a great example of how small community contributions can have a meaningful impact, especially when we repurpose items that might otherwise sit unused.

Thank you to everyone who stepped up to help keep this resource safe, visible, and welcoming for neighbors who rely on it.

This is what community care looks like and what makes these projects work: people coming together, sharing resources, and making sure everyone has access to what they need.

We are inviting local home gardeners to share the abundance!

If you have extra fruits or veggies this season, please consider donating to the Vancouver Free Fridges.

Your fresh, homegrown produce can make a real difference - helping nourish others while reducing food waste. It is a simple, meaningful way to support your neighbors and spread a little kindness.

In a perfect world, our community fridges and pantries would always be stocked with an abundance of fresh food.

Convenience foods, ready-to-eat meals, and simple ingredients can be just as meaningful for families right now as they get through the day. Taking the stress out of meals (planning, shopping, and cooking) matters so much.

Times are tough and things are far from perfect, but that doesn’t stop us from helping each other access safe food and care.

We are grateful for every person who supports this work in any way. Every contribution helps.

We don’t have to do it perfectly to make a difference.
Showing up, caring, and giving what you can is enough.

Let’s keep showing up for each other where and how we can.
