🏠✨ Preservation Month 2026 comes to a close. ...almost✨🏠

Our last video showcases Providence Academy, a living example of what historic preservation can do. As one of only two buildings designed and built by Mother Joseph of the Sacred Heart still standing today (she designed 28 others), we know this building, its former inhabitants, and its legacy are important to our local history and culture. We are forever grateful to those who have stepped up - with time, money, and energy - to protect this amazing structure.

P.S. TECHNICALLY Preservation Month isn't over! We have one more Secret Spaces event at the Post Hospital tomorrow. And while we're very close to sold out, we aren't quite yet! Head to our website for your last chance to grab a ticket. 👈🎟️

✨This week for Preservation Month, we are highlighting the STORIES of preservation✨

When we think of preservation, many of us think about buildings, repair, and maintenance. But preservation is also about the STORIES! Until written language was ubiquitous, oral communication was how cultures shared important stories and information. That important practice lives on today thanks to our volunteer tour docents.

Our docents (another name for tour guide) volunteer their time to share the important stories and history of two locations:
🏠 General George C. Marshall and the Marshall House
⛪ The Sisters of Providence, Mother Joseph of the Sacred Heart, and Providence Academy.

We are so grateful for their contributions to preserve our local history!

📍 Free tours at Marshall House and Providence Academy
📅 Every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 10am-2pm, with occasional Friday night and Saturday tours.

You are welcome to stop by during open hours or you may schedule a tour online at thehistorictrust.org/tours.

Last year's inaugural tour was such a success we decided to increase capacity AND add another tour.

🐦 Early bird? Start with the 9am tour so you can be the first to explore!
☕ Do you need your coffee first? We understand. Our second tour starts at 11am.
🦉 Night owl? No prob! Sleep in, have brunch, and stop in for the 1pm tour.
