The Columbian captured the heart of yesterday’s action—Walnut Grove was one of 20 VPS sites that walked in (and out).
TWENTY SITES. Showing up, speaking out, and standing together on short notice.

We’re especially grateful to our VPS families who stood alongside our educators—your support matters.

This is what solidarity looks like. ✊

Teachers, staff, parents and students rallied Thursday morning outside Vancouver schools to protest district layoffs.

Today’s anti-pink slip action Part 2: So much solidarity and community we had to post about it twice! ‼️

Today, VPS educators and VEA members stepped away from their classrooms to stand up for something fundamental: safety. Ongoing concerns cannot be ignored. When threats impact a school community, immediate action isn’t optional — it’s essential. Our staff and students deserve better.

About half of Fort Vancouver High’s teachers walked out of school Wednesday morning because of safety concerns raised by social media posts.

Our #1 priority this legislative session is to raise revenue to fund our schools and now we need to use our union strength to get that done.

The Millionaires Tax was introduced in the Senate this week and has a hearing THIS Friday. Our opposition has mobilized to sign-in con on the bill. We need to outnumber them with PRO sign-ins!

Can you please take a minute to sign in PRO here?

Your Voice Matters — Vote for Our Students, Schools, and Working Families! 🗳️

Election Day is almost here — make sure your ballot is turned in and your vote is counted!

We’re proud to endorse pro-education, pro-labor candidates who share our commitment to strong public schools, safe learning environments, and respect for the people who make our schools work.

City councils and mayors directly influence the lives of the students, families, and educators in our community by shaping:

🏫 Partnerships that fund after-school and youth programs
🏘️ Housing and transportation policies that affect student stability and attendance
🚓 Community safety and mental health supports for families

When we elect leaders who stand with workers and public education, our whole community thrives.

Vote by Tuesday, November 4 — and vote for candidates who value labor, learning, and the future of our students.
