🛶 Another amazing campout in the books! The troop spent an action-packed weekend at Purtis Creek State Park - Texas Parks and Wildlife—paddling kayaks across the lake, casting lines, and trying to keep their snacks safe from the local raccoon raiders. 🦝

An unusual sight today at McMillan Park as a crew from Texas Parks and Wildlife conducted a fish survey. Now that the lake has been in place several years and is established, we are looking into a plan to stock it for the enjoyment of the community. The plan is for a structure free lakebed that won’t snag the lines and cause tangles, which means the likely goal will be perch and catfish.

As we work towards this plan, please remember it’s mostly illegal to release fish into waters other than where they were caught, and introducing predatory fish like bass will interfere with creating a productive fishery as planned. Please don’t put fish into the lake.

We are tentatively planning a Kid Fish day for this fall, and will put out some information on that as it gets closer.
