Just a heads up everyone! Portal will be closing next week starting September 1st through September 8th while our staff takes time off to enjoy the Van Wert County Fair! We hope to see some familiar faces, and of course, teens have a chance to earn Portal credits if they find Julie!!

Hope everyone enjoys the fair and we will see you all again when we reopen on September 14th!

For all those worrying about adulthood...

Sometimes what we call “planning” is actually our attempt to make sure nothing unexpected can happen.

If I can just figure everything out…
Prepare for every possibility…
Know exactly what comes next…

Then maybe I’ll feel safe.👀

But eventually we reach the edge of what we can control…and that’s where trust begins.🙏

Wisdom makes plans.
Faith holds those plans with open hands.🤲

Do what you can today and trust God with what only He can know about tomorrow. ✝️🤎

🎓 This week is our LAST WEEK for our 2026 graduates as they head into their next adventure beyond Portal 2:20!

If you’re a registered Portal teen in the Class of 2026, come hang out with us, reminisce about your favorite Portal memories, and celebrate this next chapter! ❤️

I think one of the things I love most about reading about Jesus is who He noticed.🥹

He wasn’t only paying attention to the important people in the room.

He noticed the woman trying to disappear into a crowd.

He looked up and saw Zacchaeus when everyone else saw someone they wanted nothing to do with.

He stopped for Bartimaeus when others were literally telling him to be quiet.

He noticed a widow quietly giving what little she had.

He intentionally spoke with a Samaritan woman others would have avoided.

👉 Jesus saw people.

And I think there’s something here for us!

We can get so busy going where we’re going, doing what we’re doing, and thinking about what we need that it becomes easy to walk right past people God may be asking us to notice.

The person sitting alone.
The friend who suddenly got quiet.
The cashier who looks like they’re having a hard day.
The person everyone else overlooks.
The one who simply needs someone to stop and listen.

Maybe becoming more like Jesus isn’t always about doing something big…

Maybe sometimes it’s simply asking God to help us see the people He’s ALREADY placed in front of us.

Lord, give me eyes to notice.🤎🙏✝️

💕 We’re Looking for Fall Volunteers! 💕
The new school year is here, which means Portal 2:20 Teen Center is getting ready for another year of serving local teens! 🎉

And we need some amazing adults willing to jump in and be part of it. ❤️
Portal isn't just a place for teens to hang out. It's a place where they can feel welcomed, known, encouraged, and cared for—and our volunteers are a HUGE part of making that happen.

We're looking for adults who:
✝️ Personally follow Jesus Christ and are actively involved in a local church
❤️ genuinely enjoy spending time with teenagers
🙌 are dependable, trustworthy, and willing to consistently show up
👋 are at least 21 years old
🎮 are willing to play games, listen, laugh, encourage, supervise, and occasionally have those not-so-fun conversations when rules need to be enforced.

You don't have to be a youth pastor. You don't have to be a teenager expert. You just have to be willing to show up, be present, and care.

Our regular hours are Monday & Tuesday evenings, 6–9 PM, and volunteers commit to at least one evening per month.

Maybe you can serve every week. Maybe once a month is what your schedule allows. Either way, your presence can make a difference.
