With school starting back up tomorrow it is important to remember the challenges that young people in this day in age face. Bullying has always been an issue; however, technology has opened the door for a new type of bullying through indirect communication…social media. This has made it much easier for teens to be cruel and hateful towards each other. Since these things are not being said to their face, teens become much bolder. They do not have to see the reactions of the people they are hurting making it much easier for them to hurt them. We need to talk to our teens about the seriousness of social media and that once they post something it can be stuck out there forever. Let them know that if they are upset, they need to take time to process before they post anything. Talk to your teens today, tell them how important they are, and that they can talk to you about anything. Lastly, remind them that cyberbullying is not ok and to simply Be Kind to all.
