National Wreaths Across America Day will be held on Saturday, December 13th at 11am. Over 950 veterans are buried at Roselawn. This year, National Wreaths Across America Day will be held on Saturday, December 13th at 11am. The Van Vleck Lions Club will be at Roselawn Cemetery at 9am tomorrow (December 6th) to place the markers on all the veterans' grave sites. Over 900 veterans are buried at Roselawn. We have more than 950 small markers to place tomorrow morning and could use some volunteers. These markers will help the actual ceremony go much smoother on the 13th. If you or someone you know would like to join us tomorrow, just show up at Roselawn at 9am. We'd love to see you there, and students can earn community service hours. The Rice Festival in Bay City, TX, is a cherished tradition organized by the Bay City Lions Club, honoring our local rice farming heritage and the vibrant community spirit that characterizes both Bay City and Matagorda County. On Saturday, April 19, 2025, Van Vleck Lions Club was able to co-sponsor the annual Easter Egg Hunt at First Baptist Church Van Vleck. This was a community event and all were invited.We had a great turnout and all the kids go plenty of candy and refreshments.

Van Vleck Lions Club is currently involved several community projects:

* Assisting with Warriors Refuge in West Columbia for veterans
* Helping out at the Mobile Food Bank in Bay City
* Assisting the Women's Crisis Center with any needed items
* This year we will provide $500.00 scholarships for three VV graduating Seniors
* We continue to offer free eye screenings to Van Vleck students

Near future plans include:

* Putting up a "Welcome to Van Vleck" sign on highway 35
* Beautifying the Van Vleck Community Center
* Installing a Free Library Box in the community where students can pickup free books. They can keep them or bring them back to exchange for another.

This morning several students, and community members joined the Van Vleck Lions Club in laying over 960 wreaths at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Van Vleck as part of the National Wreaths across America mission to remember our veterans during this holiday season, honor their service, and teach future generations about the importance of freedom.
