Please join the Van Vleck Volunteer Fire Department on Tuesday, October 7th, at 6:00 p.m. for a National Night Out event at the Van Vleck Fire Station. The evening will feature guided tours of the facility, opportunities to explore the fire trucks, and hands-on experience with rescue equipment, including the Jaws of Life, as well as bunker gear and use a fire hose. Complimentary refreshments will be provided, including hot dogs, chili dogs, chips, and bottled water. This event presents a valuable chance to meet and greet the dedicated members of the Van Vleck Volunteer Fire Department and the Matagorda County Sheriff's Department.

What is a red flag warning?

“A red flag warning signifies a high risk of fast-spreading wildfires due to a combination of weather conditions like warm temperatures, low humidity, and strong winds, prompting heightened fire danger awareness and caution.”

“Avoid outdoor burning or any activities that could spark a fire, such as discarding burning cigarette butts or operating lawnmowers in dry grass.
Ensure all fires are fully extinguished before leaving any area.
Stay alert for any signs of fire, especially in windy or dry areas.”

If you see a fire, report it immediately to local authorities.
